Coco, I don't think he's still around, quite a institution

I was traveling in my VW at the time. I'd like to go back again. Have fun, Mudd!

Yep, Coco is still around. He's lost both his legs but from what I can tell he's getting around pretty good. BGunn and his dad was helping Coco with his ATV a few weeks back as it needed some work. (OK BGunn fill in the rest I forgot the full story on the ATV)

ADVers are a good group of folks and I think there are many, many ADVers that help Coco when it's needed or I should say when they know about it.

Coco is still kicking around...

He is one desert-tuff Mexican. We chatted a bit on my way down; he was working on his truck and doing just fyne!

Christmas in baja (I'm done total w/NW winters!)

Update

Oh dear it hit 80 today, I have to tell ya it felt really good on the Pacific Northwet white skin...life is good!

Funny Coco story: He had some guy move in across the road a few years ago and set-up shop, hoping to cut in on the action. Well the story goes the guy took off to head north to tend to some family business. While he was gone his place caught fire and was a total loss

So don't mess with Coco!

Yesterday was the spent cutting palms (nasty dirty work), pulled out the chainsaw to take down a tree and had the whole neighborhood out watching the show. They even brought me beer

This place is such a great escape

Ok, I am starting to layout routes for the next baja moto adventure

Hola - Mudd

Smooth as Glass

Sea of Cortez is as smooth as glass this morning, not a breath of wind.

Met some ADV riders yesterday who are heading south on a six month trip, lucky kids!

It's now noon and time for a beer

Hola,

JM

Photos - Your going to have to wait

Sorry, but my normal internet connection is not working. I return to the Pacific Northwet on Thursday, so you are going to have to wait. I really don't want to return just yet...

Hola

Attacked by wild goats in Baja

Attack of the goats:

Today Hector finally got around to helping me move the pile of cuttings. He backed up a truck and trailer, then took off for something.
I loaded both truck and trailer to the brim with all of the cuttings, and with perfect timing Hector shows up when its all loaded and ready to roll.

We used to be able to dump in the dry riverbed, but they don't allow you to dump there anymore. Hector says its big fine these days, so we head to the city dump. OMG you would not believe that place, it is worst than it smells from Loreto. It was more like Calcutta, India than sweet little Loreto. People living in cardboard shacks and picking through the trash for anything of value. Once we stop a swarm of 100,000 flys descend upon us, the truck, the trailer...its was like a scary movie, oh dear God!

The motivation was very high to unload and escape from this hell.. We both jump out swinging away flys, trying not to the breath in the flys or the smoke filled dust. Hector takes the truck load and I attack the trailer. Next thing a couple goats show up to munch on the green cuttings, few more show up for the brunch Hector and I are serving up. Within five minutes there was 60 plus goats pushing their way to the serving table. I'm starting to throw shit left and right to keep them at bay from me but with no avail, they keep coming...we're up to 80 by now. By this time the mob sceen is getting out of hand, so I just start tossing directly into and onto the munching mob of unruly goats. Once done we both escape in the truck, leaving behind a food riot of 80+ goats.

So that's how my last full day in Loreto went, feeding goats!

Tonights moon rise really moved the soul...lots of photos to post upon my return.

Hola,
JWM

Coco is a cool guy, and when we stopped by in Dec. his starter was out on his quad which he needs for getting around. He had bought a starter for it but it was the wrong one.

Not that we really needed a excuse for another Baja trip, we came back a week later with a starter. After that we keep heading south till we hit Cabo.

Been back in Yuma now for a few weeks now and feeling like we should check back up on Coco....
