D606s for tires?
Is the engine skid custom or did you start with an off the shelf item?

Thanks for the compliments Jer!

Like some others I am just not a silver guy. Never had a silver car, a silver truck, a silver anything, and I just didn't care for the silver accents on the GC so I contemplated painting the front fender red to match the tank and decided to try satin black (since that's the shade of black on the HB engine guards) first and really like the look of it.

I also painted the side plates above the footpegs and the rear 'rack' satin black as well. I even went as far as to put black Cagiva decals on the tank but that really didn't look good. Just not enough contrast between the black letters and the red tank, so I went back to the silver Cagiva except in a BIGGER print. Stock decals are about 14" long and I decided I could fit 16" decals, so I did. I also moved them down the tank a bit from stock so they are a bit more visible to others.

After hours of wasted time trying to fab an exhaust guard that mounted on the skid plate I came across exhaust guards from flatland racing online and saw what I thought looked like a pretty good fit for the GC in a 2008 KTM 250 guard. Of course when I got it it ended up needing a whole bunch of cutting, bending and welding to actually make it fit, but I like it and it should withstand some abuse better than the actual head pipe.

Tires are TKC 80's. Love them!

Skid plate is a Moose Honda XR650L item I had laying around the shop, and again, with some cutting, bending, welding ,and cursing was able to get it mounted well and looking respectable.

I have been wanting to do something different with the silver my self but didnt want to spend the cash on red paint.

I think I will follow your lead with the skid plate and exhaust protection.

How do the tires work on the corners pavement wise?

I noticed that the horizontal cylinder header pipe crosses over the cam belt covers (unlike the Elefant). Do you have to remove it to adjust or change the belts?

Yep, takes 2 minutes to remove the pipe unless your clamps are stuck.

I thought perhaps I should show this thread some love.

Just went for a ride on my day off and all was bliss on the GC.

Laugh My 00 GC On a Xcountry shakdown cruise.

This pic was somewhere between Vegas And LA. I gotta say, that only reason i got this bike was it was a cheap big bore enduro. I really wanted the beemer as i used to have one. 90 Dakar. I took this thing through hell and back from CT to CA and back. I now lover her very much now.
She has proven herself more than worthy.
