I am sure they were well aware of the consequences of turning their backs on us. The ADV community's support surely helped.

Today has been a rollercoaster of a day. All the way down...all the way up.
We can't wait to get back on the road again ...........

Cheers fellow adventure riders
Congratulations!!!
Go celebrate!!!
And start documenting things again!

Oh man, that's great news! If I were down there, I'd raise a few Pisco Sours to you and BMW Canada!

Time to drop the hammer.

To me it feels like remapping my F8GS to use 87 AKI octane fuel is complete BS and waste of time. Because it would seem that if you do this and use 87 octane fuel your bike's engine WILL fail in similar fashion than our engines.

BMW advertises this option to 'explore the corners of the planet' and from our experience it is not capable of doing so. And to pour salt on the wound after the engines fail they WILL NOT grant any warranty.

UNACCEPTABLE.

We obviously aren't accepting this as the final word but feel we have gone as far as we can go with the Lima dealer. I just got off the phone with the Victoria dealer in Canada and the costumer representative in Richmond, Ontario. They are 'surprised' that we find ourselves in this situation and are now on the case. They will be in contact with us. I, of course, let them know my displeasure and disappointment with the brand and its lack of support to their 'adventure' users.

We've waiting around in limbo for almost two weeks now. Maybe, just maybe, BMW Canada will come through and fix this whole situation, but we are not holding our breaths.

If this whole thing doesn't get resolved definitely one way or another soon we'll most likely be shipping the bikes back to Canada (unfixed) and calling it quits.
Maybe Naomi's dad needs a parts bike He's probably going to need it since he had his bike remapped

Thanks everyone for your support over the last couple of weeks and also for your input. We suspect that the mechanic at the Lima dealership isn't very experienced (he also repairs the Minis cars) so your insights have helped us bring up issues ourselves.
Horrible news guys... DO NOT GIVE UP THOUGH. Work the Richmond dealer, the remap was their doing.

EDIT.... See... this is why you need to read the whole thread before posting. WHOOPS!

Great news...ummmmm...now.

Ride on!

GO Canada and Island BMW!!!

Am so happy for you guys!

I bet it was the Texas Walker Ranger post that made it happen!

(Sorry - sitting at home in the middle of an ice storm, waiting for the power to go out. Daytime TV . . 2 Walker shows back to back. First time I've ever stomached more then 5 mins of the show. Unwittingly funny . . . )

Stories and experiences with this outcome are far to rare......My hat is off to BMW Canada for standing up.... Lot`s of dealers could learn from them....

BMW Germany and BMW NA should learn from this experience as well.
We all should learn from it. Meanwhile, once again, congratulations Alberto and Naomi. I can't wait to read about you guys being on the road again!

Dude, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS.

To be honest, after reading your problem I started to look around on other forums to see if this is a pattern because I want to buy a F800GS. Now I know I will buy it.
