I expect you want to put some hand guards on it. After much hunting and some recommendations from TT I got these:

Tusk D-Flex Handguards $49.00 www.rockymountainatv.com They are very good and the price is right.

Come on down to the farm on that bad boy when you get it.

How long will it take to get up here Cityclip? Do you think you can get it by this weekend?

Bowie is calling!

Pretty soon Jabba will be riding with us.. Probably on the GS.

It would be really awesome to take the gs on a hare scramble course, across from i197. It isnt as slick as the rest of the stuff.

Looks like a bunch of us have dirt bikes now. Cityclip-xr400, moi xr650r, Xsquiggy wr250f, Steverino dr650, Harpoon drz400, skyline keith drz400, and a few others.

Lets plan a off road excursion to the hatfield mccoy!!

Thanks for the tip. Gawd, it's so nice to be able to buy stuff that costs less than $100.

I'm definitely in for Dan's farm. And I'll probably get it tagged, so I'll be able to go on the street as well.

I pick it up in Orlando this Sunday. It rides with me on the AutoTrain to Lorton through the night and we arrive Monday morning.

I second the D-flex handguards from rocky mountain. I got the spoilers with mine and they do pretty good blocking the wind and they actually hold up when you dump it. I went down on mine doing about 35-40mph and they never budged, some paint is missing off of them now but no budging even though I bent my bars in 3 places.

some stuff you might think about adding if the bike does not have them already.

Radiator guards
Like harpoon said Handguards.. Get the ones that have an aluminum spline
If you want a dual sport kit, look at the bajadesigns.com kits

Get yourself good knobbies, s12's are pretty good. Around our area, its pretty soft and muddy, so get some soft tires :)

You are going to love riding dirt.

XR400R doesn't have a radiator- just an oil cooler and it is damn near indestructable and wrapped around the steering head between the t-clamps..

If you dual-sport it for 99% offroad, the best soft terrain tire period IMNSHO is the Kenda K760 trackmaster II. When you see one you won't believe it is DOT.. For cheaper dual sport kit options, check fourstrokesonly.com. You can get the street stuff ala carte for way less than a full boat BD or Electrex kit.

Scorch, what you said about a Hatfield trip.. Man I love that place and would love to weasle in on that one if it happens.

Pressure's on, eh Scorch?! I'm looking forward to riding dirt with all of you guys- I'll get it done by spring, promise. Got a lot to learn about riding in the dirt- hope the roost in these parts doesn't taste too bitter!

I'll just litter the woods with guardrails- between those and the deer, you don't stand a chance.

Yeah, what Thump said (even though he's a flatlander). You can peice together an ala carte D/S setup for 1/3 less than a packaged kit.

In for the Hatfield ride. Lets do it soon while its too cold and nasty for the 4 rollers.
