I too love this bike! Do you have a build thread or more pictures anywhere? What kind of handlebars do you have there?

Lots of interesting items on the bike, nice.

Just out of curiosity, since you have a hand shifter, what does the pedal that looks like a brake (where the shifter used to be) do? Is it the clutch now?

I've got two, but they don't add up to one bike somehow. Nickel plated frame was the thing that sold me. One day I'll have it together and running.

Couldn't afford a 'GSA', so now it's an 'XSA' "I didn't do it! & whoever said I did, is a liar!"

Geez, doesn't anyone have a stock 1st (green) or 2nd year (gold) one that I can get nostalgic about?

I had a first year, and a friend bought one the next year.

Yes, 5, some gone. Looking for fellow 650 riders in the area to join in for 2011 runs

Bought a 77D to get me by till the BSA was finished. That was 1982

In 84 I got a ticket for 10mph over the limit, unsafe load, passenger in from to driver, and dog on gas tank. I was interviewed by two news teams and PM magazine. (nation wide exposure) They followed me into court where Judge Cynthia Scanland dropped all charges accept the speeding ticket. I was told I could be cited again if I cause and accident.

Photo from front page of newspaper...

Too many rides to count. Ran a lap at Laguna Seca. Turned speedos back over to Zero! Toss in used motors from used bikes as needed.
Over the years have picked up a 78E for 450, another 77D for 400, a 77D for 50 bucks, and this 81H for 1,850!
Current prices are extremely inflated due to the tracker/bobber/brat craze.

Completely parted out. Electronic ignition, new muffler system, shorter fender W/bates tailight on the 50 bucker for test purposes.

Rode it around a bit dialed it in a bit, now motor is out and ready for the next refurbish...

81 motor with the electronic ign just in...hear it run.

Now with packed mufflers, carbs still not synced yet.

Many many trips! Had to wash the yamaha after a long trip on a jeep trail.
A 77D expose' below...

See the ride from a birds eye veiw as I follow one of those Harley cafe things down 193.

Sold my buddy all the pieces he'd need to assemble a 78. I'm running the 78 motor right now so he got one of my tired ones. No rebuild, just clean it up a bit. We took a ride...

That's enough...
I could go on. But just let me say that we're looking for more 650 riders to join in on rides for the year 2011. PM me if you want to ride. we can talk then...

After the 1st generation passenger there was a second. Now he's gone too and #3 doesn't ride.
Bye...
