my 74 how i found it,

how it is now, not quite stock and definetly not nut and bolt resto, but just a nice clean rider. new rings, and stem seals. plus alot of other shit , run the single points setup.

the 75 i picked up for 600 bones.

the motor that is completely new inside, from a 78 basket case i bought that will go into the 75 that will be a stock framed bobber. Low mile trans, 680cc, single bs-34, electronic iggy, external oil filter, new old stock TKRJ con rods, new crank bearings. blah blah blah. (good god i hope the crank is good now cause it's alot of fucking around if it's not)

oil passages tapped for external filter

This looks like an older DT250 chassis with a 650 motor stuffed in it.

Has anyone here tried both the Daytona and Euro style handlbars?

I'm about to put an order in and can't decide between the two. I think the bike has oem standard type bars on it (its a special but has a sprinkling of standard parts) and they feel too wide and forward for me. I feel like I have to stretch when cornering and its uncomfortable on the wrists.

I know the last 2-stroke engine I did a top end was over 300 bucks with machining, pistons/rings and gaskets. I know I have seen decent motors for around $400.

depends on what you want to spend.....i do it out of love.... that 78 motor i decided to go ahead with needed everything replaced.....not one thing was good in it but the cases....so it cost a bit.

the one in my 74 i just threw rings in and stem seals. Runs great. cost about 200 bones to get the motor going.

olug+play

I've yet to go in one. since 82 I am on motor #4. When 90% of the public was done with xs650's they were 300-450 for a runner. My latest donor an 81, with 16,000 unfortunately fetched 1,825 from my wallet. It's been plug+play for me with spare parts galore.
(until i sold a bike's worth of parts)

Since it was my friend I let him have it for 300. he put the parts together...

1978E with 81 pipes, mikesXS disc, SS hose, fork brace, leather seat cover...leather?
Ha, I should have made him reupholster one of the bad ones.

i know hey, i actually had a hardtailed one i did myself in 2006.....i bought it as a stock good runner 77 standard...and cut it up like a fool. I hated it and sold it to a real bike builder to fix my fuck up. I paid 500 for it as a clean runner. Now i cant buy a complete parts bike for that.

About $3,000au+ for any sort of runner, if you're lucky!
$6,000au+ for anything decent? lots of con artists about that have dragged them out of the shed & cleaned them up - looking for top dollar!
Cheers
