Hey Tau, since the Dakar left Africa, ASO now include a 'Starbucks' symbol in the road book!

dakar madness

inspiring madness inducing dakar rally threads.

i have been reading the dakar threads and i know a bike that will do the dakar with no service and can be ridden back home.the only problem is its a 250cc.-the yam wr250r. 40k service intervals and 100k engine life.

i wonder if anybody rides a 250cc in the marathon class/malles moto. would it work in the dakar- in terms of huge sand dunes.

otherwise everywhere thro all the other rocky, and sandy terrains it will eat it up.-according to geoff ballard best rock hopper.

what kinds of bikes are ridden in the mallesmoto/marathon classes that need a stock bike and not much maintanence? drz450?xr400?
how much is the distance between fuel stops? 250-300kms?

jeez this thread is making me crazy LMAO

AND THE GUY ON THE XT500- inspiring and so cool. in the world of JVO, AND OTHER really cool looking kits some home made xt500 just rocks up and finishes the dakar rally in 2010?
where can i get a poster of this guy?

yes

yes HIM. who is this guy?looks right out of a 1979 dakar rally pic.
what the pic says is more important than a fast cool looking bike is attitude and intelligence in a rally like the dakar.
drum brakes,2 shocks in the rear but not much to go wrong in that bike and i suppose everything can be fixed with a hammer and a screwdriver.
my hat( helmet) off to him!

His new website http://www.hennovanbergeijk.nl/

He has been involved in various other rallies after the 2006 Dakar, but than always used more modern machines.

Don't know if you guys get VMX magazine but in the current issue there is a article on an XT that completed another Rallye (the name escapes me) and also one on the Bultaco that did Dakar this year.

Bump, for a magical thread.
This is a great subject, I was wondering:

Do they still allow Malles Moto?

Do we have any inmates participating in this years in Malles Moto?

How much money will a participant save by competing Malles Moto?

Do you have to apply and be accepted to race MM?

Did Tau Anvil participate in 2012?

Curiosity has the best of me, perhaps all of these question can be answered in another thread or site. Feel free to point me that direction if you happen to know.

Thanks,
Newner
