r75/6 -- grip screw and bar-end mirrors

Gentlemen... And I use the term loosely after what you did to me in the "hand pinstriping" thread a couple months ago....

Looking for 2 things, for my '76 r75/6. Wondering if someone could help me out real quick:

1. The little allen head screw that tightens the grips onto the handlebars. Need two of those. Anybody know the specs on these? Nothing special here, right?

2. Any good ideas on how to install bar-end mirrors on a set of bars that currently have no way to accept bar end mirrors? A guy gave me shorter bars and some bar-end mirrors but the little bracket & nut that was inside the bar has broken and fallen out, leaving nothing to connect the mirrors to.

M6X16, and they're $0.60 at MAXBMW.

The stupid thing is, I needed one. Bought it, and.. it's noticably different than the other side (original). I think the other side is a 5mm, and it sits flush with the grip. This one is 6mm and sticks out a little bit. Same threads, though.

Actually, Max BMW also lists an M5x16 @ 55-cents... Think that's what I need?

Wha? Any bar can accept bar-end mirrors. You need the screw, nut and expanding bits. Assemble them with the mirrors, stick 'em in the bars ad tighten the screw to expand the deal inside the handlebars.

Or maybe you've got something I'm not familiar with.

The bike is ok. The pinstripes explode all the time (if only they were 4mm and 2mm!) but I just keep a wet rag under the seat and I'm able to slap the fire out before any major damage is done.

But anyway... You're understanding me correctly and you just answered my question. So I need a screw, a nut and an expanding bit. That's really all I was after. I'll google around for something.

Why not just have a threaded "expanding bit"?

PS: If you find one, let me know. I have a Napoleon sitting on my shelf, minus "expanding bit." I'm too lazy to make one on the lathe/mill/shaper/whatever... for now.

I thought it was 3/1.5/1.5...or oh, nevermind. Just keep it outta sight of the pinstripe police.
