How do you post a picture from iPhone to ADV?

I have been trying to figure out how to post a picture using my iPhone to ADV. I'm sure it is simple but I can't seem to figure it out.

Please someone help.

Perhaps it's simple with something like tap-a-talk.

If you replace the word "iphone" in your question with "camera" do you then know what to do?

I upload images from my phone to my desktop, do whatever image processing I like, then upload the resulting image to my smugmug account. Then I reference the photo on smugmug. In other words, exactly what I do from any other camera.

I have no problem posting with me camera/laptop/desktop. I don't know how to do it with my iPhone.

Your iphone is a camera. I use a mac and have at least 3 ways of grabbing pics off my phone. Don't know what the equivalent is for a PC. If you don't know how any other way to get the pictures from your phone to a laptop/desktop try emailing the images to yourself from the iphone.

It works, but it's a bit cumbersome sometimes. Here's a thread from last year about this. I think it's a bit easier now with the new forum software.

The problem is to get to the URL of the picture, as you can't right-click. It won't work if the picture you're trying to post is a link at the same time. For instance, I can't post the ADVrider banner on top, because it's a link to the home page at the same time.

What you need to do is tap and hold the image, then a menu will pop up. Select "Copy". Then click on "new reply" on ADV and tap on the "insert image" icon:

Another window will pop up, prompting you to insert the image URL. Delete the "http://" there. Then tap and hold there, the "paste" balloon will pop up. Paste the image URL, hit OK and the IMG code with the pic URL will show up in the reply window.

So it depends on the picture hoster you're using. Some of them offer iPhone apps, most of them will have an easy option to select and copy the image URL, some don't.

I use photbucket for my photos and have uploaded the photobucket app for Iphone.
I haven't tried posting photos here with it yet, but looks like its pretty straight forward.
copy and paste the image URL and that should be it

Go to Photobucket.com on your computer

and create an account

Then download the photobucket App from the app store

Take a picture with youe Iphone

Open the app and go to "upload media"

Click on choose existing, then pick your photo and hit upload.

Wait for a bit, and your picture will be uploaded to photobucket.

Go to "my albums" in photobucket, click on the photo you want to upload to ADVRider.

on the bottom right you will see a small i in a circle. Click that

This screen will come up

tap once on the "img" link code ( bottom one). It will copy the link.

Go to ADV rider in your Iphone web browser. Go to the thread you want to upload a photo to. Click on new reply. Tap the screen where you would type in text and you will get the option to paste

Add any relevant text and

Voila

then click on preview post to make sure everything worked. If it did, click on Submit reply and you are done

I don't have photobucket. I use Picasa. Maybe that is why I can't.
