Question Got some days

Oh what to do, or where to go. So I can head out the 20th, and need to be back the 25th. If the weather permits, Moab area would be good. I have never spent any time in northern N.M. So maybe i should go explore Taos area. Similar drive time. So any suggestions?

Ride Montecello Canyon & the Chloride mining & ranch roads.
All just west of Truth of Consequences, NM right off of I-25

If interested I will give you a # for a good DS Loudge in town that comes w/ great food & they let you work on you bike there too.

We go there 3-4 times a year.

I'll second the suggestion for Monticello Canyon (the Box), and Chloride Creek. (The Chloride Creek trail starts on the west end of the village of Chloride, and gradually climbs up into the Gila mountains, crossing the CDT twice). Taos is gonna be cold and snowy, similar to your home turf this time of year, but the Truth or Consequences area will have daytime highs in the upper 50s, and some excellent riding!

The Desert View Inn is a great place, $40 a night!

That sounds great. I would like to try that. Looks like a 10 hr drive. So got to come to grips with that VS 7hrs to Moab.

Moab could be doable by next weekend. Forecast is showing highs in the mid 40's all week. That'll melt 90% of the snow I bet. I'm gonna give it a shot next Friday thru Sunday, unless we get a last minute storm system...

The best part is that we have a man on the ground in Moab to give us updates.

"Myjsm" or something like that, I know him as Tyco...much easier to remember!!

Laugh

I just spoke with Mylsmkj (Tyco) yesterday and he said they still were snow covered, but a lot can change in a week. Very good to have straight/accurate info available from Moab. But if any of you ADV'ers meet him, please don't hurl on him. Apparently someone already did and made him leary of us as a whole...

yep. puked on. but apparently he is warming up to us! Very good guy, for sure! Been complaining of some pansy ass wrist injury lately or something, but should be back on throttle by March when Moab turns green again with all the CO plates...
