I really like the new design! I did some custom powder coating recently. Hopefully Mark doesn't see it as a hack to his design.

Hi Mark,
I purchased one of your original kits for my xr600r and it's been great - did a long (3 weeks) and rough trip with multiple falls and no damage to the cooler. I also felt a lot more confident running the same oil for that long.

Does the new mount system for the xr600 sit a bit closer in?

Thanks for the nice words about the oil cooler kit.
The new mount system/guard does not reposition the cooler. Repositioned closer in, the cooler will be too close to the exhaust for my comfort.

During my "long term in-field testing", (riding to the store this time) I got the chance to see how it holds up in a left, low-side crash.
I went down going pretty fast on pavement, front end washed out, and the cooler never got close to the ground.
I had all of the proper gear on with the exception of blue jeans. My left knee got ground down pretty deep.

I am very happy with the position of the cooler. Tough way to test it though.

Cheers,
Mark

I'm sorry to hear of your accident, Mark. However, I'm glad your injuries were not more serious.

Thank you for continuing to improve and sell your excellent oil cooler.

So what is the difference between the XR650L and XR600R kit? Different mounts?

Other Bike possibilities-

Mark-

Sorry to hear about your accident & glad you came through it in one piece. I found out about your oil cooler from a post on the XR250 thread. I have an 84' XR250R. As you may know, due to heating issues, these particular bikes can be prone to over heating and can suffer cracked heads. I don't believe my new bike has suffered from this issue and I would like to keep it that way. Any possibility you will be making mounts for other older bikes, such as mine? I don't expect to be in the dessert much here in Washington State, but I would like to hit the "Dessert 100", just to be able to say "I did it". Mostly just interested in the added security of an oil cooler. REALLY like the mount you came up with, nice looking system!

Hi Mark what exactly is the difference between the HD & Lite Kit? Is it just the the frame mount extension? If so, do you have a pic showing what it is?

Thanks,

Cumbacheech

Hi Cumbacheech,
The frame mount is the only difference.
I hope this photo helps:

Thank you all for the best wishes on my recovery.
I am doing very well now. My knee looks strange but it does not hurt.

I really hope to get some kits ready soon... Hang in there. I am doing the best that I can.
I am now waiting for some Honda rubber bushings. They are back ordered. I guess I got all that they had in the US in my last order. If it is not one thing it is another.

Ride safe my friends,
Mark

update XR650L Oil Cooler kit

Hi Guys and Gals,
I am so sorry for the delay on getting the kits ready.
I did receive some guards and they are keeping me very busy.

Hoping to see the mounts next week... ???

I am waiting on some rubber bushings that are back-ordered from Honda. Gee, if it's not one thing, it's another...

Thank you for your patience. I am doing the best that I can.

Stay tuned.
Cheers,
Mark
