Here's how day one is going to work:

link to map:
http://rallywv.com/images/2011RWV_Day1_Route_Map.pdf

we take off from service at 4pm, in one minute intervals. Transit 22 miles to start of Stage 1, called "Low Water Bridge." They allow 44 minutes for the transit, so if I left the start at 9:01, I would be expected to hit the start control of SS1 at 4:45. THey would assign me provisional start time, and when its my turn I would get an actual start time written down on my card by the awesome volunteers. Stage 1 is 14 miles long. At the end, if it took me less than 38 minutes, I would simply use the minimum time of 38 minutes, add the transit time to the next start (in this case 15 minutes) and add the resulting # of minutes to my actual start time for the stage, and that is the time I need to show up at the next start control. Simple, RIght? :lol so in this case it would be ... lets say I got out close to on time, and they gave me an actual start time of 4:50. The stage took me 25 min to finish, for the sake of argument. I add 38 min + 15 min (53 min) to 4:50 which is 5:43 and that is the time I would be expected to show up at the start control. If it had taken me longer than 38 minutes to finish a stage, I would use the actual time it took me to finish, like god forbid 40 or 50 min or something. Add THAT time to 15, and add that to the actual start time.

Really its just "ACtual start time + Stage TIme + Transit Time = NExt start time."

This is the math done at the end of every stage, :lol

So, we transit 5.8 miles back to the start of Stage 2 called Low Water Bridge 2 and do it again.

When we finish that, we transit 22 miles back to service. Hang out for 30 minutes and head back out, this time just over 20 miles out to the start of Stage 3, called Big Run North, which is actually Low Water Bridge run in reverse. No I dont know why they dont just call it Low Water Bridge Reverse. THats what I would do. But wtf do I know... ANYWAY

At the end, we transit 5 miles back to the start of Stage 4, which is called Big RUn North 2. (Or Low Water Bridge Reverse 2). Upon finishing that, we head directly back to the Day 1 Finish, which is also Day 1 Start. Theoretically, the first vehicle in would be there at approx 9:30pm. Provided there are no hold ups or delays along the way.

DAy one should consist of scored 56 race miles, and a total of 152 altogether.

Day 2:

http://rallywv.com/images/2011RWV_Day2_Route_Map.pdf

First bike out at 9am from the start at the parking lot at SnowSHoe Mountian.

30 mile Transit to first Service, and then a ten minute break there for gas, last minute stuff, and next a two mile transit to Special Stage 5, a 3.9 miler named Adolf 1.

At the finish of SS5, we have a two mile transit to SS6.... blah blahh blarhg ablrghablgherg

for a total of 41 race miles and 185 miles overall for the day.

Race mile totals over two days (12 stages total) is 97.96 miles.

Total miles covered = 338 miles.

97.96 miles to ride as fast as I possibly can.

Here are a couple of 35w HID's in the TOuratech dual headlight deallio

There is a ground each that I've currently chosen to use the front fiaring bolt on the steering stem as a frame ground. I think I can just bodge the wires there a bit and run a pair of switches at the fairing. It will be nice to run one, two or none as the electrical case may be.

On second thought i have no idea how all that wires and ballast shit is going to fit in behind the headlights. :noway

Jason,

I must have missed it...which HID's did you get? I'm pretty sure that a lack of good lighting played a part in my faceplant.

Russ

Its basically this kit right here:

http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/...00K/?id=126287

If this is the 35w version, I got two of them. Rick at Motorrad is selling them, and its not much more than $75 from him, if I recall. INstallation is a pieceof cake... getting all the crap zip tied or otherwise secured is going to be ... well I'm just not looking forward to it.

Jason, no high beam? Don't really need it with a HID, eh.

yeah, no high beam. I broke the switch some time ago, and just nutted the wires together, so I've been on permanent high beam for a while now

Currently I literally unplug one light or two from the back depending on the state of charge of the battery. Need some waterproof switches. ;D

Seriously man, this is one of the best threads in Old School. A peak into the life a modern old school racer. I have got to get in on this.

Damn man you already are in on this

But thank you Thats a very nice thing to say

Yeah we have to get your bike up and racing.

Ah hell, I'm no modern day racer I was 36 before I ever competed on a bike, and racer is really giving it too much credence. I'm a participator, so for, but not a fast one... I did get lucky a few times, but you're not going to win anything unless you put yourself in a position to win something, and all that takes is signing up and showing up. Thats all I do, and then theres the ride my little heart out part.

Ok- well, I just got to Snowshoe and am at the house. Seems like we've got the mountain to ourselves, haha..

As usual it was every minute hilarity getting here, although the drive was the least eventful thing about it.

Finding all kinds of burnt up wires under the dashboard while putting in new headlights two night before leaving for the rally kinda stuff, it was fun!

Geez, about ten other things happened, too I gotta go get some food.

Here was the ART rig, with my new swank single rail trailer giddyup

Tinight i have to put ont he windshield and the number plates, and oh, kinda make sure it actually runs.
