Ted! Thanks for the correction......if nothing else you get a spot on the start line which isn't easy!!!! Don't know why I thought you'd get a kind of "factory" support.

They had the same deal last year but different rally(s). Heard the dude who won went bankrupt using his prize

Way to go J-man. Looks like Rod Faggotter dropped to the back with a mechanical or something. Man, that must of been a bummer of a name to have in highschool.

Copied this from Jasons FB update via his Lady...

Rally Day 4: An improvement over days 1 - 3. No crashes, and no mechanical issues, so rode both stages (both of them in the 180 - 190k range) without incident. Paul Rooney has taken away Jason's toys (camera, phone, etc) so that he can concentrate on riding and navigating and remove other distractions, and it worked pretty well. As Jimmy Lewis said "slow is fast"(er). He even made up a few places, so is now not running last in the race. Rocky and challenging terrain today, and he's commented that everything in Australia seems to be trying to hurt him - rocks are knife-edged, tree branches are thorny and want to grab parts off the bike as you pass, even the soft sand isn't so soft. Tomorrow includes a 300k stage that he's thinking is going to feel VERY long and difficult. He's going to visit the medics and have them look at some blisters forming on his throttle hand (oh, is THAT what you call it?) and tape them so they don't get bad, but otherwise he's feeling good. Two more full days and then a 57k sprint to the finish.

That would make a great piece of memorabilia for us all and more importantly it would become a very worthy piece of data for Jason's CV for any future team rides and events. Nothing like an official media release to attract some attention.

I wrote in to the organisers asking them about doing an interview and footage on the Rooney GS & Jason. Below is their reply;

"I've passed your suggestion onto the media people. Keep an eye on the Safari Youtube channel."

Might help to get this through if a few more of us write in to express interest. The Safari website details are listed above. Only two days of the Safari to go.
