Hey Rick. Good to meet you too! Sounds like it was a good ride. Does your X have initiation scratches and scuffs?
We just got back from a week of great riding down in Fish Lake Valley. We'll be riding out at Moon Rocks on Saturdays for the next several weeks if you want to join us. Great fun on a X-Challenge once you get away from the whoops.

So when am I gonna see you two on the trail again?
Maybe soon. We are currently planning this summer's ride. We'll probably be heading out from Reno in mid-May. Depending on the weather we may try for the Grand Canyon again or if its too warm we'll head east to Great Basin Nat'l Park and Utah, Colorado, who knows?

Maybe we'll run into you again out there! Any plans for May or June?

I spent a night at Warm Springs in Saline Valley in August once a few years ago. We arrived after 11 o'clock at night and it was still over 100 degrees! I didn't need a sleeping bag that night! It was probably mid to high 80's by morning and it was perfect! I'll bet you pack your sleeping bags from now on...

Cool ride report. I just moved to Reno and funny enough, I spent the last week trying to map out a path to Death Valley. Looks like you did the work for me. I'm going to try to follow your route (after it cools back off )
Thanks!

I'm glad you revived this RR.
We didn't have GPS, we used the Benchmark brand of maps. My husband likes these maps because they make a distinction between different types of roads and trails - although we went looking for the roughest, legal trails we could find.
The only way to recreate the route would be to follow the rough directions written in italics at the beginning of each day.
We now record our trips with GPS, but we still do all our planning with the Benchmark maps and we take along the pages we will be using.
Happy riding.
