It's probably been said already, but....

If you're planning to run that rig in the VT winters and salt on the roads, put it back up on the lift and give every piece of metal under it another coat of paint. Get in every crevice, etc.

Great work. A fun read. Thanks!

Thanks for all the encouragement + whatnot. It helps keep me motivated, I'm so sick of sandpaper at this point, it's not funny. still have 1 hood and 2 fenders to go................

I'm really psyched up on how it all came together, it went really smooth IMO.

Today, sanding and priming the inner fenders. These are chevy inner fenders that came with the chevy outer front fenders I'm, going to use that are less rusty than the original ones I got with the truck.

they have some oem undercoat/sound deadener applied on the wheel side, it's tough, I'm spraying over it. Oh well.

primed -

painted -

test fitting the front end radiator support....

I need to get that radiator on order.

The drivers side front fender saw some welding action yesterday.

These are chevy fenders, I had to fill the "spear" holes. Someone posted a nice pic of one of those spears early in the thread.

this fender has a bullet hole, I'm thinking of leaving it.

even with all that rust, these are BETTER fenders than the truck came with.....

Absolutely leave the bullet hole. Maybe take that fender out back and add a few more.

Good progress.

Leaving a bullet hole with an unknown provenance adds character, but I think adding more would be cheesy.

"Cool truck. Where'd the bullet hole come from?"
"Dunno. It was already there, so I thought I'd leave it."
"Cool."

or

"Cool truck. Looks like somebody shot it up, though."
"Yeah, it came with one bullet hole, so I thought I'd add a few more to go with it for character."

I think I'd rather have the first conversation.
