The THIS IS WHY ride

I've been perfectly happy slamming' The Mighty 950 across the desert for the last 3 and a half years. Incredible Motorcycle!

But that all changed a few months ago and my riding buddies wanted to know...WHY?

It all started when this guy (Beta Mike) lent me his '08 Beta 450 for a day.

After that day I couldn't wait to get one. So I started hanging out at the local Beta shop.

Drooling on the bikes.

Until the day finally came! This Italian beauty is MINE!

Yesterday was our first real ride together. It went very well.

WHYNOWTHEN and Buck Moberly joined Beta Mike & I.

Not the best choice of riders if you want to break-in your new motor slowly.
So with only 35miles of break-in riding....it was time for full on.

Beta Mike

WHYNOWTHEN

and Buck Moberly.

It was a short 40 mile loop, but it was good stuff.

WHYNOWTHEN liked this drop so much he went back up to do it again.

My Beta performed even better than my already high expectations. I think we are going to have a great time together.

Goodbye old friend. I'll never forget you.

I'm gonna miss the big ol smooth sounding twin, but I look forward to you on your own thumper.

The geometry is quite different. She's a better dancer.

The rear shock linkage being the most obvious difference.

The 2010 offroad bikes and all the 2011 models have Beta built motors.

Mine's an '09, but brand new.

Looks pretty nice but...

I rode a TE 450 and 310 and liked them both. Then I rode an '08 Beta 450 and bought an '09.

I think if you ride before you decide, the decision will be easy.

Click THIS LINK to see what Jimmy Lewis thought about the Beta.

Always love your adventures and pics, Riceless. Sorry to see the 950 put to pasture, but looking forward to tales of your new ride.

THIS IS WHY ride

Beautiful new bike congratulations! Those rocky drops look real intense. I bet going from a big twin to a single is quite a revelation.....maybe you will end up with another big rig in the future too. Thanks for posting up the great pics.
