A variety of texture on one of the old wooden buildings out there.

Looks like a diesel piston, big time compression.

I headed up Wildrose Canyon.

The dirt section up to the Kilns was wet and still had some ice and snow.

Here's a photo looking back down from the Kilns; Sierras way over there in the distance.

Awesome beautiful day!

The TKCs felt great on the dirt and wet stuff. And I haven't even aired 'em down yet.

I rolled on out Emigrant Canyon....

I do too. I did the forward mount for the top case cause I knew I wasn't going to be two-up for long rides. I also figgered it was better to have the weight lower and more forward. Makes a nice back rest too.

Boogied the long downhill to Stovepipe Wells, got a soda, check out Mosaic Canyon and decided I wasn't in the mood for a hike to get photos, then on over to Furnace Creek.

I walked in to the temp Visitor Center and the posted Morning Report said Titus Canyon was open! Huzzah! It's been "Closed" for a month!

At that point, I had to ride it but it was late in the day. So I changed plans and decided to overnight in Beatty. That way, I could ride Titus the next day.

I just goofed around the Valley for a while. Here's Mustard Canyon. I like the yellow and salt in there.

Looks like an old diesel Piston. When these motors have up around 20-22 to 1 ratio the extra rings are to help keep the burning fuel in the combustion chamber as long as possible. The bottom ring is sometimes called a sweeper ring. Have also heard it called a lubercation ring.

So it is not an old KRL motor part.

I guess that piston didn't come out of a GS then?

K, let's tool around the Valley for a while then and take it easy with Titus to look forward to tomorrow.

I like the little oneway road out Artist's Drive (also closed until this week). It was brand spankin' clean too. It's a challenge: go fast and enjoy the road or slow down and enjoy the views?

Some tourist yahoo waving and taking a photo:

What's better? The view or the road?

I decided to skip Chloride Cliff and head out to Rhyolite for sunset and Golden Hour light. Glad I did.

Here's the couch.

The sun slipped over the Funerals and Luna made her debut.

It was time for Mining the Moon.
