N.Thailand Ride-Part 2
OK so the last time I did this ride I turned around about 1/2 way because I was solo and better alive then lost in the jungle and ???
So I found two willing souls in Chiang Mai. John on his KLX 250 and Andy on his Honda Phantom 200cc,
yes a Honda Phantom. In Thailand you quickly learn that most bikes here can go just about anywhere rider willing.
So I will pick this near where I turned back last time.
Kids in Someong outta school early, all carrying pillows?
On the road
Andy and the Phantom
We ride through this tiny village and then start climbing up up up..
through another tiny village. Local women
near the top
If you look really close there two white dots near the middle of this pic. That is the town of Someong and where we came from
starting to head down
another village and we are nearing our destination, Mae Win
I think this sign represents the entrance to the national park, I think?
Karen Eco Lodge
We made it to Mae Win
Cold drink stop
Gas station. The guy inside was asleep on a cot
Anyway this little town is a jump off point for tourist to do a number of things like Bamboo Raft trips and Elephant rides
check out the bamboo suspension bridge
rode the AX1 again
Kujo the baby elephant!
No get offs and no mechanicals. Another successful 150+ kilometer ride
today, good times guys!

great pics! I'll be there next year at this time, doing the same thing!!
I've done the elephant ride/bamboo raft thing before, kinda touristy, but then again, I was a tourist! the raft ride was awesome though, they were one guide short, so I got to pole/paddle our raft, good thing I kinda knew how to run a river! had a good time with the guides afterwards having some beers.
can't wait to go back.
thanks for sharing!
