Moto Guzzi to go liquid cooled

Just received my March edition of Motorcyclist and page 20 it says...

************************************************
Moto Guzzi is working on liquid cooled engine. The Italian brand is expected to debut an all new, water cooled power plant in 2013. The new engine will retain Guzzi's longitudinal layout, updated with DOHC driven by chain gear system using 3 valve arrangements.

The new engine is anticipated to power several models, including a new Le Mans sportbike.

************************************************
The question is - if Moto Guzzi is moving to water cooled - how long do you think BMW will resist.

Frankly this is a good move by Piaggio. They need to bring MG main stream. This is the way to do it. Hats off to Piaggio for not loosing faith on this brand.

The BMW water cooled boxer is in the works and is said to be coming out in 2012 or 2013.

BMW should think of cooling engine plus the shaft with water..

The Piaggio group made an announcement last year that Moto Guzzi was being positioned as a competitor to BMW's touring bikes. The three valve engine was mentioned, but not described as being liquid cooled in an announcement last year.

If the new Le Mans looks like the concept then I'll have one.

The concepts that Guzzi showed off a year or two back had heat pipes rather than water cooling. It'd be interesting if they used the technology on the three valve engine.

The MGS-01 will go down in history as one of those rare moments in humanity when something more than a machine was created in the hearts and minds of the designers.

It may not be a bad idea if MG swaps the old air cooled with the new water cooled engine and makes MGS-01 street legal. The design and the looks are spot on - even after a decade.

They're likely trying to quiet the engine noise and meet tougher emissions standards.

As beat up and crippled as I am, and as useless as it would be, if MG started mass producing the MGS-01 I'd buy one. So what if I can only ride it a half hour at a time. It would be a good half hour

Moto Guzzi

Guzzi needs to get rid of that dry clutch racket and drive line lash(Character my arse. That is why I sold my beautiful Red Griso after only 15 months of owning it. Ouch!
Kinda like that Scrambler but the Cali looks like it was designed from some Cali guys on acid!
