WTF is up with Montgomery Cycle Center in PA?

So, Ive been horny over the Yamaha ST for some time, I hear there doing demos today and tomorrow at Montgomery cycle center. I gear up for the 80 mile ride and its raining half way out. No biggie, Im stoked.

What a Disappointment from these folks, I ask the girl at the table, ST demos? she points me too the showroom. A MCC guy overhears me and turns around and says. "No demos today its raining" ....I'm thinking.WTF??? are you kidding??? Yamaha wont let thier new badass dual sport, adventure touring bike(lets compete with BMW) out in the rain? Its got ABS and Traction control, and unified breaking...I ignored his comment hoping he was wrong as I head to the floor.. noone seems to care that I want to look at the bike. all the salesman are fucking around by the hot dog cart. I see the bike, its outside under an eve in the rain. I go check it out.



Behind it under a bunch of tents, nice and dry, is the bmw factory trailer with about 3 or 4 guys actively showing bikes.

I dont bother with them, Im going back in see if I can ride this baby.

Again noone asks to help me, their still bullshitting with the hotdog people.
I ask another girl behind a desk, theres an ST poster over her she must know whats up...nope. She points me to another guy. Same story, NO RIDES today.. I tell him I just road from the shore to ride the bike, its got all the safety farkles why not? Roads are wet is all he says... Jesus Christ.. Dont ask me to have a seat or something.. lets talk about the bike maybe.. Dont ask to bring it in so I can see it inside or maybe get a fucking umbrella and come outside and try and sell me a bike.. You are taking orders right??? Not a fucking word from these guys, not even a pamphlet or nothing...I say fuck it, what am I even doing here I'm going home. Ill buy somewhere else...

I'm outside getting my shit back on and guy #1 hangs out the door and says "sorry Yamaha wont let us demo in rain or wet roads, come back later or tomorrow" I told him I rode from the shore in the rain to see the bike, I guess I shouldve called... Or told them I wanted to put down a deposit.


Now I see thats its a pretty dealership and large too... lots of bikes..

Im sure people love the place..

But I wont be back....

If they have a no-demos-in-the-rain policy in general, you're asking a lot for them to be smart enough to make an exception for one particular model, however logical that may be.

I dont know what there policy is. they said the Yamaha rep wont let it go out.

I understand insurance and all. I was disappointed by the dealer personnel.

Can't blame them for not allowing a test ride in the rain.
Way to big of a risk for them,especially on a bike that they will have no problem selling.

they sent out that that email and you rode 80 miles in the rain? no rain date in the email, just come on in ride...

I dont care about being treated special, I understand no test rides in the rain.
I was disapointed in the people, noone even wanting to show the bike.
Try different seat adjustments, or how well the bike fits.

Seems they're taking a cue from HD dealers,the worse they treat you the more they sell. Let someone else pay full retail and buy it used next year with 800 miles on it for 4 grand less.

They aren't the worst dealer. That being said, I would not go to any dealer and expect 100% honesty and great service.

The parts guys are ok,

but the the sales staff is a bunch of tools IMO. Especially the guy with the Fro at the gear counter. He is just a down right jerk

if they dont treat u right....dont buy it from them
i got treated bad by a dealership close to my house and then when i checked out the one 50 miles away they were just too great...i was ready to pay more and get it from them.....
i did buy my Vstrom from the other guys....made sure i went back to the jerk dealership and show them what i got.....and made sure they realized they lost me last time......
IMO the salesman have a job to make the buyer comfortable and ocassionally they will have guys who are just looking...but still its their job DO IT

Lots of dealers are like that. You have to ask them for help and some get pissed if you ask them too much about the bike cuz most don't know what they are selling..

The dealer I stop in 4 or 5 times a yr the owner will come out and say Hi to me, knows my name and knows what kind of bikes I like. When I was looking to buy my WRf no one had one and he did go out of his way to find one and did his best to give it to me for what I could get one from a dealer down south but the dealer down south gave it away so he could not go that low...

Not say`n he will never fuck me out of money but if he does you know your going to get a nice hug and a kiss when he does. It's better then a good old cold fucking in my book...


Dennis at Hammilton Yamaha is where I got my F from and is a really nice guy he knows his shit and would buy from him in a heartbeat... Check them out for your ST Bill is getting his from them....
