I went back several pages and can't find if the valve check intervals are further out than 6K on the new model. Anyone know? Thanks

The new WC GS MC must be better than the old one. Something would be wrong with the way I look at this world if that would be any different :-)

Exactly my thoughts too.. In my opinion the new GS is going to be a much better package, and yes, relative value is for the prospective owner to decide. It will make more power, the on-road feel should be much improved (impossible for it not to be given the new components), and then you have the LIST of items beyond what Motard points to (engine, frame, and trans re-design, chassis length, wheel dimensions, etc) which go to justify some of the difference in price. I really think that it's going to be a MUCH better on-road motorcycle which will create a much more enjoyable riding experience versus the GS of today. Worth the difference in price? I think so. Do I want to pay for that difference? I don't know yet myself.

I'd like to know how they protect the water cooling radiators. To my eye, they stick out exactly in a most sensitive place. A tip over may not be a problem as it will rest on engine crash guard, but topple further and radiator will be next.
Would the boxer make it with just oil air/cooling to the next village.

The heads are remarkably similar to the Camhead, so I suspect that the valve check intervals will be the same. I don't remember any official word on it.

At one time I'm sure BMW will find a way to eliminate that procedure altogether but I think it's not that easy with the mandate to keep head height in check.

By the way, the talented UK journalist Kevin Ash died in an accident on this South Africa press event. I for one will miss his brand of irreverent and knowledgeable writing. My thoughts and in prayers go with his wife and three daughters.
