In the second video at 4.00 he is saying "this is not possible" then later he comments with the word "wahnsinn" which translates to "madness" and then he ends the video with "wunderbar" which equals "wonderful", and here it sounds as it is his opinion on the track as well as the new 1200GS LC.

My comment is: Try this track on any of the other super Enduro bikes from Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki or Honda. I don't think so. Maybe the old KTM 990.

Can't wait to go to Morocco myself in April. Awesome tracks.

Bold above, exactly what I would say.

BTW I think that indeed I found two future CULT LC 12GS videos.
Nice going Dirk!

I don't even want to publish them too much.
I want to keep them in the armory in case an argument comes up (of those arguments that come up in numbers regarding BMW and GS).

AGAIN: Whoever didn't see the two videos above, make sure to see them.

Try going to their store. That's where they do everything now.

I am not sure about the dimensions but they have the same volume as before 20 to 29 liters and 30 to 39 liters. They just changed sides as the exhaust.

Actually the two video descriptions translated are very indicative.
He loves the bike and cannot actually believe it works so well in this kind of use.
This comes from a guy that his other videos are with F800GS, BMW 450 and Huzaberg 570 FE, so I think he knows what he is talking about.
(well actually seeing what he does is enough)

Here are exact translations using Bing translator (a bit better work than Google)...

Video #1

Sandy special test on day 3 at the 4-day Enduro Agadir-Marrakesh with the new BMW R 1200 GS LC (water cooled). Great traction with amazingly stable running on this surface. I am excited. We had no single damage heavy duty after 4 days and 978 km Enduro use. The only wear was a set of brake pads rear after day 2. This however after heavy rains and many muddy, Sandy passages. Simply class. Thanks to Magura, SCOTT, BMW, Wunderlich, and ARAI.
* No damage! (only a set of break pads hahaha)
* Did he say 978Km??? Of such thing?

4 Days Enduro round Agadir with the new BMW R 1200 GS cold water. In the rain at a section in the High Atlas at 1 day. It is hard to believe how stuck in the bike and what is all this! Thanks to BMW, Wunderlich Complete your BMW, SCOTT, ARAI and Magura
Please excuse me for my comments.
* His "comments" yeah. :) I would talk way worse if someone sent me to pass that trail.

Interesting. I like the new button better than the huge old one, this looks more integrated...

On my 2010 I've used an aftermarket switch to control the Skene design dimmer for generic LED accessory lights.

Same here, while it's amazing what could be done, you won't see me doing that on a ~$20k / 1.2l engine motorcycle, I'd do that on a 250cc. have no trouble accepting my limitations, also financially. See you at Starbucks

While you start it fine (many of us wouldn't do that on a $20k/1.2l moto), your closing sucks.

Those that don't do what that guy does, doesn't mean they have their bike for Starbucks show off.

Plus we see at least one person doing this on a $20k/1.2l moto, who is NOT doing BMW promo work.
So if you can't or your won't (or me), doesn't mean everybody else should do the same as you.

We have a lady here that "just bought two" (her and her partner), which is not common also. Or is it? Because she can do it, means what to you? That they can make a better show at their local Starbucks?

Really I don't get it.
The bike can do what we saw it can do.
Doesn't mean you have to do it, indeed "the dream" is a large part of the sale.
Yes that 20k/1.2l moto.
Some people actually want to do it this way.
Some people hate trailers. They want to be able to travel a "small" 500 mile trip, arrive comfortable enough to do a 500 mile trail road and then be ok to use the same bike to return 500 miles back to their home (or more, I just made an imaginary triangle). With the GS you can do that.
I know I have done it.
Not as many times as I would like.
Maybe I could also do it with a moped. I wouldn't want either.
Would that be a similar case as the argument you raise? (because you could do it with a moped but you wouldn't probably)

Those are two great videos by a guy that seems to really know his way off-road. He made those videos with a new 12GS. He has made videos with other bikes too.

No snow here, but it is cold though Saying that though, I'd be on the bike if I didn't have to work!

No offence, it's great to see those video's! Maybe it's just me being scared to ruin that very nice GS. Personally I wouldn't ride like that but that doesn't mean somebody else shouldn't so go for it.

I think you are reading too far into his light-hearted comment. Everyone on this thread knows GS's are capable machines, it doesn't need to be spelled out. These videos clearly prove that. Yes, some folks have more money than others to throw to the wind and don't mind tossing around a $20k bike like this guy. I'm sure there will be plenty of reports on coming threads of a good mix of folks riding forest/fire roads and others that are sticking to tarmac. No harm done here, he's simply poking fun at people and himself that don't want to risk dropping or damaging a fairly expensive ride.

And tallguy-09, I'm with you. I'll take my lighter, nimble husky 310 to hit tight trails. I don't mind trailering it there. I will also take my new GS on fire/forest service roads as I see fit, but I'm not about to do trials riding like this dude in parts of the video. More power to him, and showing the new GS/LC's capabilities, it's just not something I'd care to do with my new GS/LC.
