Progress!

Nice progress! That wheel sure is shiney! Nice score on the tub. That's probably easier to get in and out of than mine. I never even saw a tub for sale locally the whole time I was building mine. So I had to get creative!

I didn't see one for sale either,I just posted up here that I was looking for one and with 2-3 hours I found 3 !!.Made ALOT of progress today.Tub is ready to mount..!!!

So what do you think,should I paint the fender black like the frame will be OR leave it bare metal ( with a clear coat ) ?????.The car is getting repainted black and the windsheild strip will stay bright metal.

It does look like it belongs together! I have no idea why I never thought to post up that I was looking for a tub... oh well. I like your idea for the fender nekkid, with a clear coat. But that's just me.

Question:
On the sidecar suspension, are you going to include some sort of physical stop for the swingarm to bottom out against so that the wheel doesn't end up contacting the fender when cornering hard, or when heavily loaded, or when hitting a large bump, or any moderate combination of the above???

Just something to think about?

Oh, and I think that fender should be left in the raw aluminum finish with a clear-coat to keep it from oxidizing.

The suspension is a trial and error type of thing ( it's made for a trailer,it's a 250# model).I have a Kawasaki air shock I was going to add on BUT there is NO room between the frame and the tire.If I need to add it I will have to get a 1/2 wheel spacer to clear it.After I get it mounted to the bike,I will load it up heavy and go for a ride.If it bottoms to easy and rubs I will start adding stops and shocks.

If you click on my sig thread, you'll see that I like my bikes to look sharp. I like them to run good too, but I don't see anything wrong with a nice paint job.

In your case, that's a beautiful blue on the Vee. Really nice! I think you got to use it. That means either the tub blue and the fender black (my preference), or the fender blue and the tub black. Silver or Alu fender? No. If the DL wheels were silver then I think the silver fender might be OK, but with the painted wheels . . . no. In fact, I'm thinking your chrome car wheel doesn't fit the overall V-Strom look and I'd be sending that out to the powdercoater for a matte black DL-look.

BTW, I'm a former Strommer (Vee not Wee) so hope I'm not talking completely out of my ass. Might like to ride up from Tacoma sometime to see your rig.

I'm NOT a chrome guy so a black wheel is something I'm thinking about.I would like to paint the VEE black someday.
