AFX FX-39 DS helmet?

I am beginning to agree with you. Adding to that, many people are working off the fit of the FX-37 (which ran small) and ordering up a size.

I have an FX37 and changing from the clear shield to the tinted shield is hit and miss for alignment and for getting the detentes right. It's also rather slow and fiddly (but so is changing the shield on the Shoei and Arai DS helmets for that matter). Has AFX come up with a reasonably quick shield change on this one?

Sorry Don, I will look into that later today and reply (going for a DS ride in it....).

Steve, I do not know for sure, but since it is made by THH, it is probably the same fit as other THH models. The only consideration is to benchmark it against the correct other THH helmet.

Thinking of ordering an XL in silver. I've have HJC and a Shoei rf1000 both in XL and was pleased with the fit. I could wear a size L in an rf1000. Wear a 7 5/8ths baseball hat.

Any suggestions on if I should order an L or XL?

I've edited my original post as it was not quite correct and leading to some confusion in the thread.
I think that ,this is what is funny about helmets, I wear a 7 1/2 or 5/8 in baseball hats. My current helmets are a Arai Signet in XXL (7 3/4-7 7/8) a Bell Moto 7 3/4. I tried on my kids One Kombat XL (61-62cm) the head is ok but the cheek pads are a little tight. I also measured my head 23 1/2" at the biggest point.I ordered a xxl in the AFX 39 based on the ones I have now, maybe it will be too big. I've since called Atomic Moto to adjust, based on this new information as I believe the xxl will be to big.

By your hat sizing you should be in a large FX-39, but you ordered a XXL?

Just for reference, I measure at 24 1/8 and ordered an XL. My head swims in it, sending back for a L.

I'm rethinking my order, I just went out and tried on 4 helmets I already have at the house. They aren't all mine, I also measured my head got 23 1/2" . I think a xxl,according to the chart is going to be too big. I'll call back Atomic and talk to them based on what I found out. The good thing is the color I want hasn't hit the states yet, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I just measured. I'm 23 3/4. Now I'm confused, gonna call tomorrow and asking some questions, thinking I might be a large. The AFX website says that 7 5/8 is on the upper end of a large.

1) Current stock
2) Some of the comments on sizing have me concerned. Currently Shoei in XL fits perfect, and the AFX sizing is the same as Shoei. Thoughts?

I am updating this daily, if not more frequent than that. BTW, silver and Urban Ms are due tomorrow to me.

On sizing, I am an XL in a Shoei, and an XL in these (though I need thicker cheekpads, which I also need in most other helmets). I don't think resizing from your current size is absolutely required, but I need to study it carefully. Today, I am going to pull liners, measure thickness, and compare specs. I also have to test fit a few people, other than me, across a few helmets. I am also personally calling every customer that we have sold to to make sure they have not upsized (3 have so far, based on their extrapolating the FX37 fit). Reacting will not help anyone, I need to drill down on fit a lot. I like to claim that I know more about what we sell than most, today it is time for me to put up.

Just for info. I fit an XL Shoei but the XL FX-39 is too big for me, just a thought. Going to a L.
