I No excessive UV exposure. I store it on a shelf in my garage, away from direct sunlight. This is the worst quality helmet I've ever had. And most of my helmets were HJC- nothing fancy. But at the same time I like its features quite a lot and will probably buy 41 when available. The fading wouldn't be that noticeable if the graphics didn't include white sections.

Its not really the paint fading, it is typically the resin used to make the shell yellowing over time, which is natural, whether it be poly urethane resin they use or poly acrylate...what ever they mix to make the reinforced Fiberglas shells.

Doug, you're probably right. Regardless, the graphics look like cheap stickers now.

Mine is solid white, I got it in May. It is ridiculous how much the color has changed. The bill and the body are completely different colors. The body is an off color, kind of yellowed.

Well that's disappointing to hear.
I guess I'll have a yellowing helmet soon.
It's only 3 months old as of now.

Mine is still going strong, liner is holding up well after three summers.

I'll probably get the 41 if the fit is still oval anyway and stick with the sun shade thing with a clear main, my 39 will probably be well worn after I drop it a few more times...
Have you seen the outer half shield?

Brian, same sizing on the FX-41 as the 39? I think I need a 4th helmet...

Can you recommend goggles that'll fit both too?

Definitely NOT. We have a test 41 already. Fits more typical of other helmets than the 39, which is to say do not go down a size. Additionally, the 41 will NOT accept goggles......when the inner shield is in the up position it does not retract fully, and there is no room for them.

Interesting. I'm a large in the FX-39. XL in my HJC FS-15. So XL for the FX-41 you think?

Yes. Although the 41 seems sliiiiightly more round than the 39 also.

We did a really large fit study with the 39, so I know that one well. I only have 1 FX-41, so I am less informed. But I think you should get an XL.

There also is an AFX FX-55 coming, a modular that looks interesting, but no reviews of it yet...

I have a comment and question.

I picked up a black Fly version a few months ago and generally like it. But, and a big BUT, the visor is terrible, the waviness gives me a headache and makes me dizzy from my 10 minute commute, and wearing sunglasses under the visor just makes matters worse.

Now I know the AFX typically gets good reviews regarding the visor, and webbikeworld talked about the Fly having the visor issue, but how do the aftermarket shields fare? I have to get rid of this visor, and since 90% of my riding is daytime I'm would like to ditch the sunglasses so I'm looking at the mirrored visor. If anybody has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

What's the ETA on the 41? Revzilla says late December, same everywhere?
