I'm sick and tired of this deep freeze were in. I'm thinking that if the temp gets above say 35 Saturday morning I'm gonna take the bike from The Dalles to Hood River via The Old Dalles rd. According to the Weather Channel App we should see the mid 40's that day. If you think you would like to freeze your balls off let me know. I normally meet the PNWRiders at the Petite Provonce in TD at 9:00 so I'll be leaving there around 10:30. Rides off if its below 35 or if its icy. Show if you can.

Ya, I may be stopped by snow but I'm desperate to get out. The wife caught me sucking on the barrel of a 357 mag last night. No sun and low temps for days, I'm going nuts.

I normally am totally against that type of bad attitude,
but the bike, she's still apart,

When I left The Dalles it was 37 degrees. The road was muddy at first but soon turned to hard packed snow. I popped out of the clouds up on top. It was nice seeing the sun after so many gloomy days.





There was still some snow and ice in the shady areas but I pressed on. I made it to where Elder Rd crosses Moiser Creek. The road was completely covered in ice and it was all uphill. I ended up pushing the bike a half mile to get back on top. This took a least an hour.





I was in the snow until I started dropping in elevation. I stopped at Panomont View point for a short time than slabbed it back to The Dalles. Mission complete. It probably best you stayed in bed.

Turned into a pretty nice day! I was in the shop all day working on fun little projects but I kept thinking it would be a good day to ride.

Good on ya, it's good to see what the conditions are like up there.
Nice bike & setup, my GL Mojavi bag arrives tomorrow, excited to get new luggage setups on my bikes after 10 years with the old...they've finally succumed to this NW winter riding, time for PVC/vinyl bags .

Be sure to use the seam sealer GL provides, and if you want your stuff to really stay dry, you might consider some small waterproof stuff sacks from REI for inside the Mojavi as well (I.e. electronics).

Spent the weekend fooling around with bikes - would rather ride them, just getting hard to get motivated this time of year. Glad some braver than I made it out.

Thanks Scott, will do, mainly gonna be for tire stuff, spare clothing & camping gear (when i get the 2013 larger bag). Are the REI stuff sacks totally waterproof & small in size for the Mojavi, or could i just use some Freddies one's that i have laying around?
I realize that GL sell bag stuff sacks for the larger bags.

I have used the Mojave for three years now (same one). If your just putting tubes, tools and emergency stuff like me in it, I've been known to only use hefty yard bags!

Thanks Craig, i've been using those HD garbage bags in my old Wolfman gear lately (in heavy rain), was hoping to get away from them with the new vinyl bags...hey how much do we ride all day in the rain anyway?
