I have been up on Abbott Rd in July and couldn't get through...................and it wasn't because of the sign.

I did 43 from 26 to 48 about a week ago. It's all good. I'm going to try Barlow Road from 43 east in a day or two. It looked
like it might be possible last week. Not much snow East of there anywhere right now.

You oughta seen the snow piles Scott_PDX and Jungle Man and I climbed our bikes over last year, the very weekend before Black Dog, when we did that last section of Barlow.

Good times

Thanks for the trip report of 43.
But I'm just gonna hafta have a good look at FS48 from Hwy 35 on my way down this Thursday....

It's all downhill-ish, what could go wrong?

With words like that ^^^^
....this is usually about where Mort chimes in.....
When we gonna go check out Kinzua, Mort?

That was only an overnighter trip...but was one of my highlights for the year. Keeping you in mind to do more that this year. Got the bigger tank on the WR and a bit more onboard storage for comfortable nights in the woods. I'm jonesing for some high country adventuring, and for some Barlow Road Camping.

I got a celabratory cold beer for the first FF that breaks through Barlow Road this year.

Also want to do a ride/campout at Clear Lake sometime this year. There's lots of camping right near the shore, and was slaying trout there last year from my motorcycle. Ride the woods and explore hard enough to get tired...set up wild camp next to a pristine lake...catch dinner and cook it over a open fire....paradise!

Wood scouting trip.

Here's a few shots of my firewood scouting trip up around Timothy on Tuesday.
Snow at 4400ft, cant get completely to High rocks (lots of logging trucks in that area...watch out!).
I think you could get all the way through to the Clackamas on Skyline.
Fun day, check it out.

58 junct to High rocks.

Finished out the day with Scott fishin the wallamete (sp?).

Early next morning, back to get what i scouted for!!

It'll happen whenever you normal job-like folks say it'll happen.
With just a bit of notice, my boss let's me have some weekdays off I DO love my boss....
I absolutely, positively, expialidoshiously, superatishously, think that a Barlow Road overnight camping trip should be yet another annual ADV event

(yes, I have had something to drink on this lovely sunny afternoon)

Barlow road, or the legally ridable portion anyway, is only 48-ish miles long.
It can be done in an afternoon, but doing it inna day kinda takes some of the fun out of it.

I say,...we ride the looooong way there, camp at that same Boulder Creek dispersed spot (where I PLOWED straight INTO the heavy flowing creek last year ), and ride all the next day on portions of my Cascade Discovery Route around Timothy Lake to make this at LEAST a two-day annual gig

What say you, Hoodies, and you PDX wannabe Hoodies?

I think you've been ride planning the girls "3D" ride with Shelly too much talking like that. We might have to call this 1 the..."2B" ride, as in "Bad-ass Barlow" !

Barlow Rd

I just did Barlow Road from FS 43 east to Wamic. The 4 wheelers have all the trees cut back, and the road is bone dry, only one puddle on the whole thing. I sure like that ride. Probably do it again next week on my way to or from some other ride in the area.

I rode Punkin on FS48 all the way from Hwy35 to Wamic this morning. That ONE section of snow Craig reported was plowed on one side. I was in a hurry to get to an appointment outside Wamic by 10am (that the client was an HOUR late for ), but Barlow was-a-frickin'-callin me like I think some of you understand....
