ridiing last week of October

Thanks chokozip, plumbstraight. It looks like Oct 29-30 or 30-31 will be my best open days, but there's some flexibility depending on weather, etc.

Talked to Motoquest and they have one KLR. Plumbstraight's TW200 sounds fun, too. That's the one with the fat rear wheel, right? A friend had one ... sweet.

So, for two days, what would be some nice routes if leaving from Portland? I like 2-track forest roads. Singletrack is a bit more than I usually want to handle, and graded gravel roads are not so interesting ... unless the scenery is good

I'm on the trail now, riding parts of the Blue Ridge Trail in Virginia. I'm not furloughed, but a number of my customers and colleagues are, so it was a good time for some unscheduled leave.

best.
Chris

Here's a virtual route for AppleJams Cascade Discovery Route.
I CANNOT VOUCH FOR ANYTHING BEYOND WAYPOINT K. Talk to AJ about that.
This is just a rainy afternoon spent trying to piece together his telling the story.

Stillwater to Sisters MAYBE

There's Abbot Rd(4610) that heads east from LaDee Flats down by Estacada. It links up at High Rocks on NF58.
There's a washed out section though. Not suitable when wet and TAKE A RIDING BUDDY.

West of Portland is the Tillamook National Forest, full of trails.

Plus, an all gravel route from Roger's Camp at the summit on Hwy 6, to Stone Camp Launch on the Trask, 16 miles from Tillamook.

Maybe Road Rash can take you through Portland, on alleys.

Abbot/4610

I took the DL, with street tires, up 4610, starting from Promatory yesterday. I found multiple detours because of my lack of sign reading abilities, but eventually made it to the wash out. Checking my map, it looks like I almost made it to High Rock. That's when I turned around. The wash out was too steep & too slippery for the DL. There was a lot of rock dodging along the way. All together it was nearly 70 miles of gravel. I doubt I'll go that way again unless I'm on something lighter.

When are you going to be riding again? I'd like somebody to show me more of the east side.
