Ride on Friday the 18th
Yeah, I may be in for a ride on Friday. I love that ride up the Klick. I know what you mean about getting the first scratch on the bike, already done! I didn't buy it so I can polish it in my garage! None of my bikes are for that. What time were you planning on leaving?

I'm glad to hear you've got the most fun part of the "break-in period" properly covered. I think in general that the earlier we get started, the more territory we can cover. But according to forecasts, Mother Nature might make the roads icy enough to want to leave a bit later. So 8. Or maybe 9. Or maybe breakfast first, then 10. We'll see, so far it's just you and me for this ride, so adjustments are easy. You like riding in the cold rain, right?

Some of you may worry that starting it's own thread for your trip may lead to too many riders. But the couple of week-long rides I've done were the Sound Rider Sasquatch rides with 40-60 people running the same course. No one ever seemed to get in the way of each other, we just kept to the buddy system for safety, in small groups of 2-3 that fit each other's style, and could look out for each other. The rest of the groups were on their own, so nobody got really slowed down, waiting for slower riders. After experiencing two of those big rides, I personally think any ride is managable with larger groups, and the first group up front gets to pick that nights campspot by the trail, hopefully by a creek somewhere. If we get separated, oh well. Each small group for themselves if need be, and we can easily plan the gas stops as the next day's lunch/meetup/regroup spots. The more the merrier, in MY thought process ![]() And a Thread Title may add riders that may not look here. It's S1Marks and Asrvivors boat here, that I'm climbing aboard, so you do whatever suits your plans for a good ride.

I gots me 160ish miles stock, off-road, give/take 20 miles depending on my mood that day. I've got two options figured out, just not paid for yet.

There are some options to shorten this leg up. You would have at least a 24 mile round trip.

It has been suggested (thanks, mtbdemon!), that I man up just a bit
, and do the WABDR with Timmer's group that will be beginning from Stevenson, WA. on Sunday, July 31st. Hmmmmm, I say to myself.... Then I post up an affirmative before I get a chance to think too much about it . So....... If WE do OBCDR somewhere in the week of 23-30th of July, I'd really like to make it easy to be in Stevenson on Sunday morning, the 31st. You know, in a perfect world ![]() Are you guys at all into doing Oregon South to North?

We haven't discussed S to N but it is an option we can talk about certainly. I don't care either way we have to ride some freeway and highway to get or leave home.

maybe two if we want to dirt it just a bit and/or relax overnight. Oregon has some trail additions below Bend that probly "should" be ridden on the way down, if we start South to North. The run all the way across Washington AFTER the trail would likely feel like a pretty long day, I wouldn't mind splitting that up in say....Leavenworth, Lake Wenatchee, or Blewitt Pass area on the way home. Inmate 1911fan has a place in Cashmere, and I think he's doing the WA leg with us..... BUT, I have not studied the maps. Nor have I talked specifics with anyone that's done it. I would think 14 days, 7 for each state, would be perfect. Edit: the first Sasquatch ride across WA, from Hood River to Canada border was easily acheived comfortably in four days, and the majority of Northbound riding was off-highway. The second Sasquatch ride from Hood River to Medford in two days was done with too much pavement, and the days lasted too long for my liking If we get to Walla Walla by Friday evening, the 29th, spend the night there, then Saturday Night we can spend at my place just outside Hood River, and get a proper bed, breakfast, and a shower. Then leave early Sunday morning for the Stevenson meetup a bit more refreshed. Would this schedule get mrmagoolin to your obligations on the 29th in time??
