I can't believe you ride when it is this cold. I'm such a puss.

Steverino - I got a new battery for my GS and I was told in the GSpot forum that I need to undo the fuel lines to install it. Is that true? By the way, since I saw you in Loudoun, I chickened out and moved to Reston. Middleburg got lame. I miss Lime Kiln though.

Yep. You have to take the tank almost completely off. Just get a pair of vise grips and pinch off the fuel line (only the main line needs to be pinched; the return does not). I just ordered a set of quick disconnects from Max's BMW.

Lime Kiln IS a great road.

(I'm in Hamilton)

You should have to remove the tank to install the battery. But you may be able to lift it up high enough by loosening the bolt in the back.

Does your tank have quick disconnects? If not you should consider adding them.

Where at in Reston?

I don't have the disconnects. I'll look into it. I'm near Glade and Reston Pkwy now...but that is temporary also. Not trying to make anyone jealous, but I'm moving to Berlin in August with my girl for a two year post. The best part is that she is the one with the job.

I guess I'll have to figure out something to do with all of my free time while I am there. Hmmm...Germany...two years...no job...GS with fresh tires...

I never had to remove the lines to install a new battery. Just get a friend to hold the tank while you throw the battery in.

Yeah, I am aware of the good fortune. I feel like I won the lottery. I have been looking both way before I cross the street and wearing my seatbelt. No running with scissors either...

As far as the battery is concerned, I presume it is all fairly obvious. If there is a trick with regard to locations of bolts, let me know.

I was out yesterday, and for the first time ever, two cops on the parkway waved at me on my way back in - they both looked at me like I was absolutely crazy. It was sort of fun getting strange looks from all the trucks and cages.
