I don't remember much. Bits and pieces really. I came to on a gourney, surrounded by nurses and paramedics. The hum of the flourescent lights was drowned out by all the medical banter thrown acrossed the downed rider. Alot of questions come to mind when found in a situation like this. "Where am I" is a good one, as is "What happened?" But for some strange reason, the only words I could manage were "Where are my pants?"

"We had to cut them off"

I don't remember feeling much pain at the time. I suppose I was still in shock. I groaned and tryed to sit up, only to catch a glimpse of the blood soaked mess down by my feet before a firm grasp forced me back down onto the bed. "Don't move. Your leg is broken." I caught another quick glimpse of what looked to be a cage of some sort, hardware supporting my limb from the hip down. Again, I was forced back down. "Don't move." I blacked out.

Came to again to find a state trooper at the end of my bed, going through my gear, or what was left of it. He fished my chillum out of my boot and began pestering me with questions. "Where you smoking? Are you high?" All I could do was laugh. If only....

Came to again with a cell phone to my ear. The trooper informs me that he has my mother on the line. I talk to her a bit, assure her that I'm alright. She says she's going to fly up as soon as she can. "No, ma. Don't worry... I got this...." She laughed a bit and said she'd be up ASAP. I was out before I got to hang up.

The last time I broke my leg, my riding buddy called my mom while I was in surgery and told her I'd had a motorcycle accident and was in the hospital.

Not good. The broken leg was minor, dealing with a distraught mother was WAY worse. I'd have broken the other leg getting away from her if I could. "Minor" and "motorcycle accident" are two words that don't go together in her language.

No pressure Parepin, but could ya pick up the pace here? You're killing me with the suspense....
