Still miss mine (really my wife's). A 94 with 235K on it, when I sold it to an inmate here. Sketchy looking affair at a Bass Pro Shop parking lot, the cash going right into the hands of the guy I bought a 2007 Tiger from.
Had to get rid of it when the next door neighbor dumped his Highlander on us.

still got my parents 1991 honda accord, with 217k miles. Feels like a solid car, hope to keep it for another 20 years. Sucks it only gets 24mpg, im jealous of all these priuses and new autos getting 40mpg.

Bought a new Accord Coupe in 1991. White, blue interior, stick. $10,990 then added air for an upcharge. That was a fantastic car, sold it when we had our second child and bought a minivan.
I really miss that Accord.

I had a 97 wagon, paid 9,000 for it in 99, sold it years later for not much less,
Fantastic car, Only three complaints, (well four if you count the MPG) The brakes always shuddered, even after new rotors. and it had a penchant to consume window regulators, and power antenna motors

I had an '89 hatchback. It was very basic, not even power steering. Great road feel and very balanced handling--you could drive it hard and it was very predictable.
Like most older Hondas, it was hard to keep ahead of the rust. Also had a '93 sedan, but it was an auto. Hated that transmission--especially because Honda makes a nice stick.

Just put my parents in a 2011 accord lxp......they are very happy with it.
Was going to get them a 2011 Hyundai sonata which I actually favored over the accord until it did the dreaded "pull left" steering issue on a test drive. |

Worst seats ever...
I would still be commuting in mine if not for that... Daughter drives and she knows better than to complain about it... Dead reliable though... Only think that crapped out was the fuel/air sensor at ~$450... but I'll give it a pass because it was a decade old... ![]() Accord is the only car on C&D's 10 best list for 25 years running.. I would buy another one if they have fixed the seats.. |

We have two of them: an 03 & 05 EX-L V6.
The V6 Accord is the best sleeper on the planet. Once I was heading down the highway and moving pretty fast between packs of cars. See a police car in the median and slow down. Look to the left lane: blue Accord. Look in the right lane, blue Accord.

My '90 was awesome
My '01 was heavy, didn't handle as well, mileage crappy, but to its credit slid on its roof thru a field really well.

My '05 V6 was a great car - rode like it was on rails.

1981 Honda Accord, 5 speed
My first car. Bought it myself for $850 in 92. I beat that car and it took everything. I replaced the carb with a Weber and the gas mileage was not as good, but gas was $1 a gallon then. I off-roaded it, overloaded the electrical with a few attempts at a decent stereo and once when a party was busted by The Man (I was sober, I had just gotten there 2 minutes before the cops) I drove it through a corn field, through a ditch and hauled azz down the road with no lights on for a mile, but this was back in the day in the boonies, no other cars on the road.
Also took my date in that car to the Homecoming dance. Cherry poppin' good times in the Accord ![]() Sold it when the clutch and the brakes went out. Parts were going to be about $200 and I figured I had gotten my money out of that car. My next ride was a Dodge Diplomat with a 225 slant six. |
