Not the Andes, but still a nice hill to ride in Chile
I usually head out east into the Andes but this past weekend our plans to ride up past Portillo and across the Andes crossing into Argentina were spoiled by land slides due to recent rain that closed the roads/tracks until Tuesday. So we followed plan B and headed to Cerro Roble
![]() This was very different from my previous Sunday rides in the Andes. There was a lot more sand and a lot less rocks. All done, it was an easier more comfortable ride and it involved some great gravel roads with nice twisties to get there ![]() ![]() We were 6 bikes: Two F800s, an R1200, an G650, a Varadero, and a Transalp. Needless to say, us two on the F800s were tearing the tracks and riding ahead to stop and take the pictures ;) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Way in the back you can see the Andes with perpetual snow: ![]() ![]() And the gang, with me on the far left and my usual riding buddy Paulo right beside me (wearing his KTM colors): ![]() This is on our way back down while we waited fro the others: ![]() And this is how the Varadero made it back: ![]() On the gravel roads on our way back a huge rock hit the carter and cracked a huge hole in it (you can see the oil trail from when we laoded the bike on the truck). We paid a guy that was on his day off to give the Varadero a ride back to Santiago. This is a photo of the damage: ![]() And the rider making sure his ride had a safe ride home:
