Texas in Minnesota

I guess PhotoTex's BBQ was served too far away from San Antonio, Texas for the judges to do a taste test. No matter, we enjoyed the Texas tradition, on the day it is set aside to happen:

Thanks PhotoTex! Much appreciated after a long, hard day of riding!

Awesome, awesome time! Thanks Jesse for putting this together and hosting us. Thanks Fototex & family for the barbeque dinner - that was great! Here are some of my pics from the weekend.

This man is quick through the woods on that WR250R.

XR650R power disbursement.

It's still early.

Eric cruising.

Timber Frear convoy.

Puddle jumping.

Back on FR-170 after Timber Frear...waiting on a few people to come out. You'll see why next.

Oops. First mechanical failure. Combo punctured tire and busted ignition cover. Todd, you're tough on equipment.

Just stopping along a really fun, flowing section of forest road.

Day 1 "Off Roaders" at Carlton Peak.

BMW's work well as tow vehicles. 2nd mechanical, KLR mystery no-start. I guess 3rd mechanical would be Greg's leg - very sorry to hear about that. Heal well!

Popcorn and chili. Yum.

Winding down after day one.

Day 2 action. After this shot, the action turned into searching for c-zulu and francis11. Could the Timber Frear loop be another Bermuda Triangle?

Overlooking Grand Marais.

Cannonshot on the Hovland Dock.

On the Hovland Dock.

Above Partridge Falls.

Below Partridge Falls.

Motocross boots aren't so great for climbing steep, slimey, jagged rocks.

One last look back at the falls.

Coming into the old border crossing.

Mid pack on Hwy 61.

Jesse gives the ADV salute.

Moving, last leg of slab back to HQ (hopefully before dark )

D'Merritt, c-zulu drumming.

Want to do it again?

Jesse, thank you for hosting the Shindig, I had a great time. Also, thanks to Jerry for the Chili feed and Donavon for the Texas BBQ.

Thanks for the tour and the excellent no guarentee patching job. "Todd, you're tough on equipment," Thanks.
Best price on Ignition cover $165.
It also should be noted that I broke my clutch lever but I didn't want to cry about the small stuff (Francis11).

Parts are ordered, I should be all set up with my much more dirt biased DRZ for any impromptu Fall Shindig that may occur.

Todd, you can buy a lot of JB Weld for the price of a new stator cover!

And at risk of leaving someone out, I'm gonna put out a big thank you to everybody at once for making the weekend rides, campfires, and meals, the ones I enjoyed and missed, a great memory. :)

Greg

FOTOTEX and Mrs. FOTOTEX - THANK YOU! The Texas BBQ was awesome and the time and effort you put into it was very evident. From Texas napkins to Texas shaped tatter chips, well done!

You're more than welcome, I'm happy to help! In my defense, it was a limited guarantee patching job - I guaranteed it for well over 5 feet of travel, as well as offering the extended guarantee for a nominal percentage increase on my standard tire patching fee.
