yep, new sprockets,grips,bar risers, wheel spacers and chain guide. Wire up the GPS and we should be ready for scout'n..

I live about a mile from the off road area. I have rode there a fair bit. There is some okay stuff but it is more geared to rock crawlers. I have more fun running logging roads then hanging out at the park. There are some fun water holes/mud pits. But be forwarned, that ore based mud is not fun to clean up. It doesn't just wash off, everything it touches has to be scrubbed.

Have you tried the single track? I understand there is some of that just for motorcycles.

The Moon Dust motorcross track is currently closed. They were rebuilding it last summer and it didn't look like they had made much progress by fall.

The big and little foot trails are single track but keep in mind this place is built on a tailings and poor rock dump. Everything is very rocky. There are some trials courses that aren't on that map. Some of the quad trails have fun spots.

There were some trials guys there having an absolute blast last summer. They rode stuff that the guys pushing $100,000 buggies couldn't do without winching.

I hope you have a good bash plate on your bike. It will have a few more love marks by the time you are done.

Info: The Shindig has outgrown my humble hillside, so for 2013 we will be organizing at the Wildhurst Campground near Finland, MN. For many of the returning Shindigians, you will remember the Wildhurst from 2012. I have been working closely with the Wildhurst Campground owner Leroy, and I ask that everyone please follow the directions below and help us make this a smooth event. Once again, there will be no sign up fee for the Shindig, the goal is to keep it simple and focus on riding. However, the Wildhurst is a business and they have a modest camping fee that I think you will find is very reasonable, especially considering there are hot showers, toilets and a bar on site for the evening hours. The Wildhurst has some of the best pizza's and coldest beers around. As the Shindig nears, we'll look for some volunteers to help make dinner and campfire Stew!!! (MNRider you listening?)

Signing Up: Signing up is as simple as One...Two!

1. I will be tallying another "IN" list for 2013 so we have a rough idea how many to expect. Please drop a note on this thread or send me a PM and I'll add you to the in list.

2. After step 1, call the Wildhurst campground (218-353-7337) to reserve your tent/car/RV space (see below for tent rates). Be sure to tell them you are reserving for the Shindig to get the special rate! That's it. Leroy, the Wildhurst Campgrounds owner, will take money upon arrive, no need to prepay.

Wildhurst Camping Rates: Leroy and I worked out a deal for the Thursday - Sunday weekend as follows:


A. Tent Sites: $12 / day per tent (Two up riders get a great deal)


B. Car Campers: $18 / day --If you show up with a four wheel vehicle the price goes up because he has to put you in a different location.


C. Full RV Sites: $30 / day

Routes: For 2013, we will be providing GPX files of the Superior National Forest. Thanks to Cannonshot, you can download the GPX files below and bench ride through the long winter. Keep coming back throughout the spring, we are actively updating these routes. The hope is, we can break up into smaller groups and ride the terrain that best suites our bikes and skill. I will have a laptop at the campground with Garmin Basecamp software if people need help transfering route to their GPS.

Jwalters is busy on the trail handling for the beargrease sled dog race so on his behalf I say welcome to bidda 444 and biker couple forever on signing up for this years shindig!! I know this will be another fun year and in addition to another warm weekend Jwalters is putting in a request for some pre-shindig moisture to keep the dust down! And speaking of the beargrease, the person he is mushing for is a new dual sport enthusiast in our area so lets all wish the dogs of manitou crossings "Good Luck!!"

Looks like I am working graveyard shift weekend of the MNSS

The XR got a bit of love today
New tank (Thanks JW), Clutch, Headlight, HDB ADV top clamp and dash, Fork Brace.



The tank took a little fitting. The radiator fan interfered with the front right lobe of the tank. No option to move the fan because of the unibikers so a little heat gun action and it melted into place


The stock headlight was a pile, my home made light didnt work much better, found this one on ebay for less then $50. HID plus LED running light.

The HDB top clamp replacees my bent aluminum plate i used to mount switches and the vapor


Not sure about the fork brace.. some people say they work, some say a waste of money. I thought I would give it a try.


I also installed a DP clutch.. Took me a bit to realize DO NOT RE-INSTALL JUDDER SPRING... I messed around with it for quite some time trying to get it adjusted with that damn spring in there.. just doesnt work. all good now

I had the trail tech vapor on before I bought the new dash. They are relatively easy to install.
