Zig-Zagging around N. California
Last week of January did a where-to-next? jaunt north of the bay area towards Oregon, hit Pt Reyes, Calistoga, Potter valley, Mendocino and it's Natl. Forest, Garberville, Trinity, etc. i'd do a stretch of coast then head inland then go back to the coast. 2 days in the Lost Coast area. No phone, no radio, no internet, used my gps to see if i would make it to a gas station. Ate like a big dog, hiked a bunch of miles every morning waiting for the fog to lift and the day to warm up a bit.
loaded up the alp, left the bay area headed north. always obeying the speed limit?? ![]() then i got behind this yahoo ![]() hoping that he wouldn't lose any of these ![]() finally passed him and his crazy dog ![]() found a campsite one night right by Mendocino Natl Forest, wanted to see how much rain was coming before hitting the dirt again..... it rained steady all night long, which canceled the dirt roads for a couple of days. ![]() and i forgot to stash the wood under the table. but i had a morning fire anyway ![]() woke up to the scent and sound of fresh. fog was drifting lower and floating down the river towards me. in the top branches of the bush on the left was....... ![]() this little bruiser. ![]() ![]() packed up and headed back to the coast for a run up hiway 1 and then dove into Lost Coast. I think i was carrying about half a grocery store, or maybe just aisle 7, bike felt like a bloated pig. ![]() took a break to get a buzz from my custom camelback protein drink ![]() headed down yonder for 2 days by the surf ![]() me and tall, stiff drink had the whole beach for ourselves ![]() ![]() ![]() the wind was brisk, chilled and all the flags were standing at attention ![]() time for a campsite ![]() so i get out some snacks ![]() ahhhh, evening fire and the coals to do the baked potatoes, grill the steak, bermuda onion slices, garlic, red pepper. throw together a salad with the remainder of Aisle 7 and enjoy the evening. ![]() turn on the entertainment center for awhile, get some sleep and......... ![]() wake up to another gorgeous morning with fresh coffee, what more do you need? ![]() Well, mainly I needed some breakfast, plus fresh warm and dry socks, cold weather gloves.....then headed down the coast and home

Hey Rocky, nice report and interesting interpretation with the photos. Looks like a relaxing pace in some chill places I have visited, but not explored in such depth.

thx...i just checked out your Redhead Windscreen products, they look great. I use the zoom H2 with the small gorilla tripod with magnets in the tips. the goofball pic with me in the red jacket was shot with the tripod stuck to my tank holding a G9, these little things work great. check out a good, steady ride for shooting videos on my buddy's website: redzephercam.com play the demo, he has the all terrain tires for the segway, also i'll order one of your screens this weekend. wouldn't have known about them if you hadn't complimented me.. thanks, stephen
