I have a bike you can ride if yours isn't ready.

What? Why? I thought that your plan was to always have a backup bike!

Not really. I got the new bike to ride until I got the older one fixed. I want some extra cash now for odds and ends. Besides, I've only put 1,200 miles on it since September so it's not like I'll be missing it. Been too busy to ride a lot.
The old bike runs but has that ticking noise in the head. I think it has something to do with the de-comp lever. No biggy but if I pull it apart I may just go ahead and redo the top end while I'm at it. Then I won't need a backup. Remember we're talking about a Honda here.

Once Spring/summer hits I may buy a more highway friendly bike. Maybe a Wee. I've been looking hard at them. They offer the best bang for the buck for a highway oriented ADV bike...for me.

I had a ticking in one of the Valks once ..
It was a loose intake nut...Checked them all .. Ticking gone..
Then I had a tweet in one . Vacuum line that time..
If it's a Honda .
It can't be something really major..

Well, unfortunately, yeah, it can. Some of you may remember some of my misadventures with my XR. PO had apparently run it out of oil, maybe more than once. Had to replace virtually every bearing, piston (overbore--scored cylinder), the cam, and the rockers.

Operative word was "out of oil." I suspect that if the PO had taken better care, I wouldn't have had a "ticking" noise either. Tho' if it is the decomp system, that should probably be fixed; easy to do the top end too . . .

So they ain't bullet-proof, but I'm thinkin' bwalsh takes far better care of his XR that my PO did . . . .

Well that really wasn't the HONDA'S fault
You can't fix stupid ...

I have 2 Valks with well over 100 K on them ..
One I did have to replace the Clutch..
It worked it's ass off for a few years..

But I do keep all the fluids up in them...
