Rocket stove working great!!!!!

Hi all. It's finally finished.
Here are the details.
Insulation inside is vermiculite granules
Outside Dia. 14"
Height is 16"
Chimney is 4"dia X 13" tall
Combustion chamber is 3"dia X 8" deep
Shelf is 16" with one end cut to match inside dia. of chimney.
There are also several 1/4 holes drilled in its end to help draft travel through fuel.
The hardest part is not choking it out with too much fuel. If over filled it will start to smoke and loose draft.
Notice the steady orange flame under the dutch oven. The only fuel being used is what is on the shelf,3/8 to 1/2" dia, dry wood from an old orange crate. There is no smoke and no soot on the pan or stove top.

NIce job!

I do have a couple of questions-

How often do you have to feed the fire? Every other minute or can you go a longer time without pushing the wood in?

Can you fry stuff over the top or do you get too much of a hot spot to try frying?

That is the only drawback you have to keep pushing the wood in every 3 minutes or so.
I used a heavy cast iron dutch oven so hot spots were not a problem. The fins are 1" tall so the heat dissipates quite a bit.
It is recommended to add a wind shield that goes around your cook pot. The shield should have no more that 1/4" clearance around the widest part of the cook pot. This will help cooking. I have not tried this yet, I wonder if such close tolerances will keep the stove from drafting properly?
There is a design that has a vertical combustion chamber that self feeds. My next stove I will try this and see if it works.
I tried to make the stove burn pine cones, it seemed to block air flow.
I also tried charcoal briquets without much luck. I do think this will work but need to experiment more.
