Me thinks you're right! Nice mod with the plate and light! Now you can do mine after practicing with yours.

Now that's a winner! I looked all over for a "tidy tail" aftermarket and came up zip.

And the best part is (IMHO) that the only permanently modified part is the triangular plate which can be easily replaced. Everything else can be bolted back in place. I was happy with how it turned out.

I'm sorry to say the Red White and Blue Roadster is gone.

We won't be replacing the 8R with another at this time. The F800R undoubtably is a great bike for many reasons, but in the last year Nancy learned she liked the more subtle road characteristics and the riding in the dirt on her G650GS more than carving up the canyons or cruising the pavement on the R. We wouldn't have sold the bike by any means at this point, luckily she was not injured in the crash..... sometimes it's just meant to be.

It's great to see how far this thread has come in a year, hopefully it can serve to entertain and inform many F800R owners or prospective owners for many years to come.

Carry on Rotax Roadster Riders!

With all that said, here's my shameless plug for a bunch of F800R parts for sale in the FM that insurance didn't cover.

Well that's too bad to hear about the bike but at least she got the chance to try it out and discover that she likes something else better. I'll take some of those parts that are coming off it though.

I did, in white. Love it!

Can anybody recommend a good bash plate? That oil filter is hanging right out there.

Anybody use handle bar risers?

Looking at a Z Technik smoked windshield, what do you guys think?

I am going to start at the beginning of the thread and see what the story is.

The mirrors suck!

I wish that someone made a decent bashplate. The location of the filter and pipes seem like they'd take a beating if of road but Lost Rider would have noticed if it was an issue by now and he didn't seem to have any reservations about it.

The OP shows pictures of the bar risers he installed and I will be installing the same ones (literally) very soon.
I haven't looked at bash plates or windshields yet so I can't be any help there.
I don't find the mirrors to be an issue for me.
The instrument cluster reinforcements from Wunderlich are well worth the money as they stop the instrument cluster from vibrating all the time.

Where are you getting the risers? I would like to get the risers alone and not part of the kit the OP used.

Touratech makes a decent looking engine guard but it looks like a pain to remove when its time for maintenance.
