Has anyone ever thrown some "offroad" tires on an R adn seen what it can do off road?

My buddy bought a GS and wants me to do some "adventuring" with him, but I'm a bit nervous. lol

Having had 20 of the bigger brothers I've been lucky with only ever two final drive seals.

I was hoping to get the 'surge' package but that's been discontinued with the single plug R series... o well... Just have to wait for some other internet fuelled minor problem to turn into "bigger than ben-Hur" problems..

Aren't people reporting all over the place that the 800R is a bit top heavy.. ?
I'd go for the GS in any version for that too (even the G).

The Touratech goodies are nice, but as always, pricey. The rear set pegs would make standing difficult. But I bet it would be fun on gravel roads. Most likely the same results could be acheived with just the tires. But what fun would that be.

No, but have been thinking about its capabilities.
Test-drove a GS before I bought the R to feel how they handle different.

Like others posted, I think on gravel roads, even muddy roads, it should be ok, as long as you can keep going and keep some speed in it.
For the more extreme offroad work where you have to drive real slow, stop and manouver, it's less suited, indeed not balanced well for that.

Finally picked up my F800R yesterday.
Riding it back from the Dealers in the pouring rain was so much fun even did some sailing on it going through about 2 ft of flood water. will post some pics when it eventually stops raining
