The bike that didn't go in vain...(SRX-4)

That's it!

I want a bike. Period.

But I'm broke, and I will be for some time....

Those were the words i thought about two years ago, when I rode for the first time.

It was a nice moped, and it grew on me, even when i thought that it is only temporary.

For two years now I've been looking for a suitable bike for me and my wife, but all needed money.

After reading and reading and posting on www.moto.gr (the greek version of ADVrider, well, unoficially of course ) I realized that the best bike for me would be a 600-650 cc, naked street bike. For it to be good, it had to be 3 to 5 years old.

That would be about 3000-5000 euros. A LOT.

So, in search for a bike, to ease the spirit and make the poltergeist effect go away from my house, I started to look in the streets and alleys of my town, in search for something that I could Rebuild on my own, something that will not cost that much...

And there it is....

Yamaha SRX-4....

TAAADAAAA!!!!

A lot of rust, though.....

Well, what can I say....

...It was love from the first sight!!

With the help of a friend, a rebuilder of two CB750's, I brought it to the basment of my landlord.

I work on a small space and the neighbor's dog keeps me company!!!

Thumb

Since this is my first time on Advrider, even though I was lurking for quite some time now, I would like to say a few things:

I will post here the work on my SRX400, as I will try to rebuild, build or restore it (choose the more suitable).

It will take some time and some money, but I want it to be perfect (well, to my eyes)!

If this is not the correct place for this kind of thread, please move it to a more suitable place (preferably with a view)

All, and I mean it, All comments are welcome, even the worst of them.
I have absolutely no knowledge of what I'm doing, except of what I have read so far. Also, I have good friends that I hope that will help me...

When this bike will be over, I will officially be a member of the motorcycle community

Suggestions are obliged, fire at will.

Yours, Stavros

Well, the first things I took out were the front fender, it is broken in three places, but I will repair it easy enough.

Next were the side covers, under the left one there is an electric contraption and under the right is the air filter

Left one...

Pick up a Yamaha service manual. You will need it. I'll be watching this one. We never got that bike here in the USA>

There is a service manual for the SRX600, quite the same, only the cc's change...

Copyright problems, sorry for the mistake....
