I had the same issue with the collar at first. It feels like someone is holding a butter knife to your throat when its stiff and new. It did break in after a few hours of wearing.

I went for a 3.5 hour gravel/trail ride right after getting my jacket and my neck was raw when I got home. Couldn't shave for a few days (like I cared).

+1
I hated the collar. Now I actually like it. Seals up well in the cold and allows airflow in the warm. No longer feels hard and scratchy.

Did they fix the collar on the newest models? I was actually very pleased with how soft and comfortable the collar on mine is at the place where it makes contact with my neck.

It's not keeping it open I have a problem with but sealing it off from the rain!!

I hate the nasty little piano cord draw string and the thin material at the collar. I prefer a taller collar with a longer padded strip of velcro which can be snugged up to the neck. The draw cord for adjusting the neck seal...REALLY is that the best they could come up with in a $800 jacket!!! At least for my skinny neck it will take a lot on cinching up to get the neck to seal and the collar material will bunch up before it seals the neck with the draw cord digging into the neck with bunched up material. Also a thin seal to keep water from draining down my neck.

BTW where does one route the camel back tube????

I've had my Badlands for 4 months now and find it quite comfortable. I did cut the hand gators off, I though they were unnecessary and now I can get more air up the sleeves in warm weather. As for the complaints of a stiff collar and just generally unyielding fabric overall, well this replaced a Motoports Kevlar Mesh jacket and stretch pants. Compared to the mesh Kevlar, the Badlands feels like silk.

My reply a couple pages back

Yup,
It comes out at the right side breast pocket.
The tube snakes through the bottom and then routes up behind the chest armour and then stuff the mouthpiece though the hole going into the pocket.

I'm in the minority of running it inside the coat but it works for me.

Hi Guys, could someone post a summary list of known updates on 2013 Badlands Pro?
I'm thinking of buying one (thanks everyone this thread is megahelpful!) and would find such list very helpful.

Okay, it seems the more that I ride with it, the less I like the collar (everything else is GREAT. Now I'm starting to see why there are complaints about the collar. Not terrible, but not a complaint I'd like out of a jacket at this price.

I'm sort of the opposite. I hated the collar to begin with, particularly the drawstring and thin fabric. Now I don't notice it at all, and it does a pretty good job of keeping wind and rain out for me.

Just an opposing view. You never know what sorts of things will bug you, and what sorts of things you'll become accustomed to.

Ride on!

I did still just buy it. I only have about 200 miles in it, so maybe I'll come around too. Hopefully, anyhow.

HI-Viz option is the only change this year, no structural mods - as emailed to me from Klim.

Not married. Never married. No kids, either. Which means I sleep like a rock and I'm happy as hell.
