Ocotillo Wells Singletrack Ridge Runnin' with Henrikbuus and WallyWhirled
I'll bet it's been 10 years since the last time I've gone riding at Ocotillo Wells.
So when Wally said let's go, I figured it was about time. We found inmate Henrikbuss' camp, made our introductions, and hit the trail.
Henrikbuus and his 15 yr old "noob" son Sebastion negotiate a twisty little gully.
Nice bike H.
I had never ridden with Henrikbuus before. He's fast, as he demonstates aboard Wally's new Beta!
The "noob" Sebastion...yeah right!
The guys headed back to camp to regroup for another loop,
while I went off solo to see what I could find.
Here we go.
Ain't she purdy? Nice trail too.
Wally rejoined me for some fun and took a few pics of me.
Wally & I have similar gear and our bikes look very similar so sometimes it's hard to tell who's who.
Uh-Oh Riceless down!
My mistake, it's Wally.
He seems to be ok.
When the lead rider gets off to scout the trail, it could mean trouble.
Yup, the trail just diappeared.
This is looking back at what will from now on be known as "Wally's Chute" Pretty steep.
So we headed back to tell Henrikbuus what we had found.
As soon after we got back to camp Henrikbuus retuned from his 'family ride" and we wasted no time getting back out there.
He liked it. There's much more to follow...soon.

As I was saying, Henrikbuus was charging.
Seeing this, I suggested that he take the lead so that "I can get some better pictures that way" Yeah, that's the ticket.
There were trails like this on almost every ridge.
The trail usually were fairly easy and the traction was good.
As long as you could stay on the trail.
That was a close one!
We weren't riding that hard or that far but I know at least my heart rate was faster than normal. Man that was fun. Thanks for the super fun ride guys. I needed that.
And I don't think it'll be another ten years before I'm back to ride the ridges of Ocotillo Wells.

"WOW", -I knew you took a few pic's of our ride. But that it turned into this National Geographic worthy pictorial (with Will Ferrell commentary), posted up on ADV, is just an awesome way to come home and turn on the laptop after 3 days in the dez. -THANKS!!
It was great you guys came out to show what other good 'stuff' to look for in Ocotillo. -I also loved the way you offload bikes of the truck w/o a ramp
It was a lot of fun to ride with you guys and those BETA's weren't slouches either. I foresee Wally moving up in the ranks in the KotW remix on that new nimble mad-chine.
We' just gonna have to go again

You made me miss the riding out at Ocitillo Wells . One of the funnest places to off-road accept the busy holidays. There is so much area to ride. I've been going out there since mid 70's and have seen alot of transition. The funnest part is the fact you can ride where you want and make new trails.
Great report and pics.
Now I must plan a trip down to go riding soon. I haven't been down there in a few years myself.
