Isn't GA practically a suburb of Jacksonville.

Looks like a great trip! My son, Seth, said he ran into you guys in Franklin Springs, GA ... he was on a green KLR 650 on his way to the autoparts store when he saw your group and stopped to talk! He was green with envy! Looking forward to the rest of your report!

Cool. I didn't see him but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

We went near there (had lunch in Royston) but not thru it going north. Sam and Craig rode their bikes home and went back thru F.S. Sunday morning, it was probably them.

Yeah, he made a U-turn and came and talked to us for a little while. We were in the parking lot of the Roystonian diner. He was a nice kid. Said he would LOVE to be a part of something like we were doing. He had the right bike!!

Nice. Well that explains it, I was the last one out of the restaurant. Couldn't pry myself away from the cobbler.

And I must say, we did eat well on this trip, beyond all expectations.

Next to the Dillard House, I think the diner in Screven was the best. For sure the fried chicken!!

You may be right. I'd ride back up there just for lunch. Hmmm..

I don't want to interrupt the flow of Rich's narrative, but I felt I had to insert these two pics!

Sure enjoyed meeting you guys! I think I talked to about 3 of you guys in that parking lot. Couldn't just drive by a whole bunch of Suzukis sitting in that parking lot. Not something you see every day in that little town. Most of what I see on the road are Harleys and they aren't as interested in the back roads. I'm enjoying this thread already. If you put up that route I will be out on these roads myself before too long!

Day 2 Farther North

Well day 2 brought more incredible weather. Time to start getting the campsite put away. Drain the hot tub, get coffee going etc..

The Sun is warming things up nicely

The Suzuki commercial

Fueling up for the start of the day.

Todays plan is Bill (our leader) will drive the rig all the way to our caming stop for the night and then ride his route back until he meets up with us. Our job if we can handle it, is to take our time and enjoy the day ie. go slow...

Well, we are left to our own devises. Dave has Bill's route loaded into his GPS. Sam, who does not trust any of us, and also has it loaded in his as well. So we will find our way and enjoy our day. We will be running on some famous dirt like Woodpecker Trail and Old Savannah Road.

The fun begins

Which way do we go again??

A view from where we came

We decide this will make a good Club house for our gang, so we stop to investigate. This is along the Woodpecker Trail.

It needs a little duct tape, but hey, it stayed up this long..

Time to move on

We crossed a paved road

This is where it goes

It felt like the movie North by Northwest, just the middle of absolute no where. Cotton fields as far as the eye could see

Then we came across this sign..remember old Oglethorpe? He was here...

We come to an intersection that leads to gas..yes we need gas again

The clay continued on..

Ken having fun

I didn't mention yet that it was getting quite dusty. My camera started having trouble due to the dust. So now my pictures were only when I could stop and mess with it for 5 or so minutes. The electronic lens would not deploy and the camera would just shut off...so from here the video will have to show most of the action...

Another nice lake along the way

A view from where we came

And where we are headed

A side road we didn't have time to explore
