If you liked Two Wheels Only campground...

Then, you've probably heard that they have closed or will be closing soon. :-(

Very sad. Wonderful people and place.

I live near and thought I'd offer another option for you peeps.

I was on a dual sport ride and popped out of the woods to a bitchen stream crossing and was greated by the owners of Etowah River Campground with a smile and a beer.

Darrell and Jaki are the owners and I have been camping there for 5 years now. It is very motorcycle and dual sport friendly as you can ride out of their gates and hit the hills or the twisties.

Hope to see some of you there!

That looks like a nice alternative. Ya think, Darrell & Jacki have any idea what they are getting into...

Oh they know. I've told them about ya'll. :-)

Here is a pic right up one of the dirt roads from their campground. Just a random lake in the woods. So pretty up through the dirt roads from Suches to Dahlonega...

These are from the day I found the place as well...

If you find this place, they have beer that gets cheaper as you buy them in the bar! (You can walk back to your campground if you like...)

Thanks!

I always liked TWO but haven't been there in years. wacky/neat place. Hopefully they can set up somewhere nearby. The alternate spot you posted looks decent too.

If you like a little more on the "no frills" camping there's a small, maybe 10 sites? but nice USFS campground at Dockery Lake. Located just south of the "overlook" on GA60 between Suches and Dahlonega. Lake and Campground are located down a gravel road about a mile off of GA60. Fishing, concrete camping slabs with fire rings. Running water is available. Toilets are the "poop in the hole" USFS type. I think It's about $8 a night, pay on the honor system. It can be crowded or no one there, first come first serve.

TWOnly to re-open

I just got the latest AMA mag, and they say the property has been purchased by a William Johnson. He bought an additional 70 adjoining acres, and is in the process of remodeling the lodge buildings. He's a local guy who always loved the place,so he won't be putting up a bunch of condos.
Not sure when he plans on re-opening.
