Thanks guys. Sounds pretty painless. I've got the Certificate of Origin, with the dreaded "Off-Road Only". But here in Colorado, you just need to certify it meeds Federal and State requirements and your in like Flynn. I'll get that taken care of here and hope it transfers when the time comes.

The CR5 is brutal anywhere traction is available. Faaaaching! I think a 39PWK, MoBetta portjob and some sticky rubber could be a lotta fun.

I don't read that at all - it says "during" - I take that to mean crossing roads to going from one area to another area via a public road during or as a part of an event. Riding to an event or back from one implies that it is before or after the event, not during.

Sheeesh - so much for a fancy shmancy English major

They do, just like their old Mayor - just they only snort many lines of a white powdery substance.

The statute is an exception to the law for enduros that need a "special use permit" and traverse many miles of little used gravel roads and the like.
I can't remember the last time there was an enduro in NOVA?? 1982?
Turkey Trot by NOVA Trail Riders?
Anyway, Harvey, the sponsoring club has a "course map" which is supplied to the necessary authorities: ie state forest mgrs., DEP people, State Police etc.
and obtains liability insurance from the AMA or other sanctioning body and then gets the permit which allows the participants to ride less than legal bikes on the roads for the event.

Hope this is helpful

uh-oh...did someone say inspection sticker?

I was wondering about that. My bike is registered (VA), but I never got it inspected. I have a county sticker, but I never bothered to put it on.

I've been driving around like this for 1.5 years. Am I just lucky? I have a GS. Where the hell am I supposed to put all of those stickers? There isn't a flat surface on the bike!

I'd say you are just lucky. I would definitely get stopped.

My inspection and county stickers are on my fork.

Some places sell a plate that attaches to one of the brake caliper bolts, but I have heard some inspection stations won't put the stickers on the plate since you could take it off. Yes its BS but I have heard this from two different stations.

Prior to that, I had the stickers down on the GS bash plate but for some reason inspector asshole moved the sticker to the fork.

(That's my nephew btw - took a long time to get the finger prints off.)

Cute, I like the boots and the cape - bring them down to Hot Springs and we will put them on Steverino when he passes out

As for the inspection plate, you are correct. VA inspection stations have gotten evil on removable plates for the sticker and not finding DOT markings on the lens of driving lights. The local gas station tried to fail my bike with PIAA's because there was no SAE or DOT info on the lens. I passed this on to the PIAA rep at to national rallies and they farted me off. Ever since then I go to a bike dealer and "buy" a sticker and get the BS over with.
