Great RR, Costa Rica has been on my bucket list for a long time and it's awesome to see it even just in pictures!!!

The beach or bust!

Rehydrated and snack time over we continue...

...we can't be too far away...

The increase in traffic tells us we're nearly there.

Sure enough! We roll into Tamarindo...

...yank right over to the beach and find a place to park.

We kick back and take it all in for a bit...

...

We're a little overdressed for this party.

We fit in a little bit better with this crowd.

The afternoon overheating episode has caught up to me. I take a walk and practice my Spanish.

Right now we're working on baño.

This also gives me a chance to learn about the local infrasructure.

Fastforward to the walk back to the bikes...

Catching back up with Dave we kick around the afternoon plan.

Since the only two things on our to-do list are now completed we really don't have one. Not necessarily a bad thing.

We decide we need gas...

...somewhere along the way we have our first howler monkey experience - at least I do. Even in broad daylight the sound is a bit unsettling at first.

By the time the gas stop is over it's getting late...

...at least late enough to start thinking about finding a cabina.

We eventually find a spot, go through the ritual of checking in and head down to the restaurant.

It's been a long day.

The cold cerveza is a welcome sight!

Order some dinner...

...relive the day, send a message home and call it an early night.

Eventually - as this last installment finally shows. We spent a few days in the area. Great place to dub around.

Any of you following along should check out swamp's RRs. Top. Notch.

Of course, they'll make this one even lamer but go ahead. They are worth the read. New one in the works is Cambodia. <<Good stuff.

Thanks.

Thank you. Glad you're coming along! When are you going back? Good chance we could run into one another over there.

If MacGuyver did it then it's real.

Bucket list? What are you waiting for, then? Do it!

Funny you should ask. Wasn't going to post it but I've actually got a picture of the whole disgusting procedure.

BTW, nice job at the Sandblast!

Well rested, we get up early as we want to have plenty of time to get all the bungies onto the bikes...

...then we roll...but not before taking careful note of the plumbing ingenuity.

Not to mention the fancy duct tape work on Whizzer's bunk.

Not complaining. It did the trick...

...and was right in line with our big dollar budget.

"Note to self: Do NOT bring SCS to this place."

...a quick stop by the cemetery we blew by last night...

None of the cows are lying down...

...it's gonna be a nice day!

Rolling through early morning Tamarindo it's pretty quiet...

...we swing by the beach...

Big day planned today...

...we're going to dick around the Nicoya Peninsula and ride motorcycles!

We putt through town...

...noting the road quickly changes to dirt...

...except right in front of the hotel up ahead.

Still no coffee or breakfast yet, we meander a bit trying to find our way out...

Dave has read about a route called the 'Monkey Trail'. We're in search of it...

...deja vu...

"Ah...this looks promising!"

...

...

Right about here we run into an older gentleman who, through his concerned facial expressions, confirms we may be onto some good riding.

At some point Dave installs the awesome riding cam...

...

"That's what I'm talking about!"

The trail continues...

...and we're eating it up...

...right up until we don't.

Really no good reason for that to happen there but now that we got that out of the way...

...

Checking out the consistancy of the mud...

...

...kinda disappointing.

...

...eventually the trail leads us back out to 'civilization'...

...

...at least for a few 100 feet meters...

The intersection known as "PUNTO ROJO"

Home sweet home, Alajuela. GO LEFT!!!... a few more Kms, a few more turns and your at my house.

Enjoying this from my cube. I have always been curioso about the road around the bottom of the lake... now I know it's doable. It may just be this weekend's ride or while it's still "dry season".

Can't wait for the rest! Sub'ed
