Here is a link to a useful 4x4 website that has pass info.

Jordan, there IS no safe departure date for you two. Someone is ALWAYS gonna try to steal Nikki after this report. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this RR together. I felt like I was riding along with y'all. Hey, how come we never heard from Nikki???

I'm a bit old for Nikki... but does she have a single aunt with the same attitude?

Enjoyed every page of this report and look forward to your next.

What if you go east to west, then high passes are at the END of trip and later in the year. We generally don't even think about Colorado before August and that's in DRY years. Expect afternoon thundershowers whenever the Utah desert is hot. (kinda thru mid September) This year there is a strong possibility certain routes will never be free from snowpack! Try to scout roads with southern exposure and youll have a better chance.
God Bless you guys!

Which spot tracker did you use, the original personal tracker or the newer "spot 2" GPS messenger? Did you leave the track on all day or periodically turn it on? How often did you change the batteries?

I'm tempted toward the original because it claims about 14 days battery life on tracker mode versus up to 7 days on the messenger.

We used the original Spot (the bigger orange one). We turned it on every morning when we left, and tried to turn it off a few miles before we got to camp every night. For most days that would be 10-12 hours. We never had to change the batteries in those 35 days. We even used it on a couple of trips up to OK/AR after we returned using the same batteries. We used lithium batteries (per the instructions). Hope that helps.
