How in God's name did he blow that engine? Those things are bulletproof so long as they have a little oil in them.

Yeah, I'm guessing oil is the key..
I remember when I was looking into them for my wife, a guy on the TU thread ruined his and replaced it with one from another model.

I talked to a young boy about his extended swing arm.He said him, and most of his friends, had bad experiences with unintentional wheelies.I told him they didn't need to start out on such powerful machines, and they needed to look at going back to CBR250's.

I should call and ask him if they will fit a Dnepr. I just want to hear the word vomit that ensues.

With leading link forks, it won't ride well as a solo. Squirrely as all hell. However, it would be a gread candidate for a chop. ;-)

I would be willing to bet that the transmission is probably an easy fix. Urals tend to be clunky, especially the square cut gears on the 650s.

I was actually thinking that selling those forks could help keep the project cost down...

.... I DO NOT need another project.

You might have trouble finding a buyer. Those forks are the most durable part Ural makes. You might find a poor schmuck who bought a Tourist that decided he'd rather have leading links, but those guys are few and far between.

Thumpers rock, and the single has proven much more reliable than the twin. If i had the cash, I'd be on my way to get it now. This whole baby thing is really crimping my style. Being responsible sucks.
