No break from the heat

Why is it that 40 degrees feels like 10 degrees when riding, but when it is 95 (my commute today) it still feels like 95?

Felt like a damn hair dryer. My eyeballs were sweating. My sweat was sweating.

I know the feeling. 97º here today, and supposed to be 99º tomorrow!

The price we pay in the South for having short winters and longer riding seasons!

I think that blacktop radiates heat on sunny, hot days, too - so its probably hotter than 95 on the highway.

You can't help but sweat in heat like that, so the best you can do is try to keep air flowing all over, dress in thin layers of cotton or performance fabrics, and keep hydrated.

Well...neehner neehner nee nee
72 and beautiful up here....and snow is purdy too and think about it, every frost encrusted "spring" I bring the bike out from its hibernation it's like getting a new bike all over again. It's also like taking your driver license test all over again, but let's not go there (wobble wobble down the street)

7th or 8th straight day of useless dry WIND here. PHUCK. Oh, it's also 93.

How about if it had been nothing but that since the beginning of March? because that's "spring" here. We haven't had measurable rain fall since mid 2010 and the wind has pretty well scorched (and the fires it keeps starting) everything. I'll take some wet breeze!! I just wish the weather would stop being so extreme everywhere. :(

Soak a long sleeved polypropylene shirt in water, put it on then put on your jacket with the vents open. Motorcycle A/C.

If you have a Darien jacket, you can stuff the front chest pockets with ice - but you'll need a small towel handy to wipe the water droplets from your faceshield / glasses.

Seriously - Gold Bond powder, extra strength (green container). Dust your nuts, inner thighs, arm pits and your back.

Don't knock it until you've tried it, and once you try it, you will not knock it - you'll keep a jumbo sized jug on hand from then on out.

I'm going to ditch my outdated ATGATT and get some of those high-end protective t-shirts, bermuda shorts, and flip-flops like the guys with Gold Wings wear. I'm sure they aren't cheap to be fashionable, breathable, and abrasion-resistant, but they have to be cooler than my mesh gear and they certainly look cooler.

I can be happy in my Darien up to 95-F or so, as long as I keep moving.

One single stop light and I will be sweating until I get into a shower.

I'll agree with that, I think we broke 100 in a few places here today, we're in the middle of a pretty unusual heat wave for this season.
